how the **** can i get this damn nut off? i've soaked it in PB Blaster, and used half a bottle of MAPP gas...i'm now worried about burning through the strut mount, yet that nut still will not budge. any thoughts?

With the strut mounted normally on the car, you can then break the nut loose with a breaker bar on the socket wrench. then remove the strut and undo the nut.

It was killer for me to get it off the struts and I had to find someone with a compressor and air tools to get mine off. It took a while to get them off with the air impact driver. As was stated above, you might be able to losen the nut on the fronts if it's still in the car. Can't even try that with the rear struts.

If you're really in a fix you might have to pay someone at a garage to remove them with air tools and a sturdy spring compressor to hold it still. (usually a special item bolted to the wall or other sturdy fixture)
