Yeah, so the issue is that it's frozen shut. <_< And a new one is like $50, which sucks that much harder.

So, in the mean time, I removed it, and put a universal vacuum hose coupler in it's place. Hopefully, I'll stop smelling fuel vapors everytime I drive the damn car. The small orifice in the coupler doesn't let a whole lot of air by, but by doing this for now, am I opening myself up to any long term reprecussions? I personally don't think so, but I have been known to be wrong on occasion, so any input is welcome.

Dang! That thing is $50 I was thinking about changing it just for giggles..but nevermind. I would place a wanted to buy ad and get one off a parts car - or a junkyard. I doubt that they are SHO specific.

I remember many people just eliminating it altogether - when it failed, like you did. However, they had to replace the charcoal canister because once it becomes soaked - it will never dry out.

I ran for over a year with the purge valve drilled through until I remembered to get one from a pick n pull..

Also ran for a long time with that vacuum line at the intake port just plugged with a golf tee.

Ive been running without the Solenoid for some time.

Just be sure to keep the small, purple (IIRC) hose connector in line. It serves as a "restrictor".
