cam failure question!!! please help!!!

hello,im new to the site. im hear due to yet another cam failure.by brousing the site i see this is not un common.well my question is i inspected all cams and found the rear ehaust cam gear is spinning on the gear.now i hear that these engines and interferance motors.SO WHAT ARE MY CHANCES THAT THE VALVES DID NOT HIT!!! everything on the site points to the intakes hitting but never say anything about the exhaust valves. well any help woukd be appriciated. thanks eric.

ps i also need to log this cam failure with buford i think?

As far as your engine goes, it may be salvalgable, and we may have members who live close to you that could give you a hand. In the email also indicate where you are located.

Let me know what other help you may need. There's lots of folk around in various commuities that can help you out.
First things first - get registered and lets see if we can have someone help diagnose your situation.

the front head exhaust cam and the rear head intake cam never stop turning as they are driven by the main timing chain. When the gear spins the slave cam stops allowing piston to valve contact. You will bend intake valve's on the front head and on the exhaust on the rear....You will have bent valve's

i think your only main concern is that you didnt bend a connecting rod thats what mine did when i put the failed motor togethere:nut:

if your connecting rods aint bent then i would say go with it long as the pistons look ok.. and that the heads can be rebuilt and reused still.. i had put around 1500 in my heads getting them rebuilt and fixed from my failure (maybe thats just crazy but thats the best deal i could find at the time)
