Short story, for the long one see below.

I liked SHO's, always wanted one, may end up getting one sometime in the future, I figured I'd kick it here to learn some more things about them.

Long story....

I've ALWAYS been into these cars for quite some time, I was actually pretty determined to buy one but I could just never find one, so I figured the rarity of the car would make parts nearly impossible and just having a first/only car that has rare parts just would not be the smartest thing for me to do being a college student and all.

I've always known I wanted a sedan ever since I started paying for my own car insurance after my third accident back in hs (parents kicked me off of theirs, so if I wanted to drive their cars I had to pay for my own), but didn't know about too many "sleepers".

Time passed and I narrowed it down.... 98-02 Accord, 95-99 Maxima, 89-95 SHO, Pontiac Bonneville or a 94-01 Teggy GSR Sedan.

By the time the money was right, I ended up getting my current love.... 1999 Nissan Maxima SE-L

I've done quite a bit to it, if you really care to know you can click here.

Anywho.... I'm here! I'll come here time to time to read some threads and lurk but that is all! Since SHO's are slim pickens I even figure I may end up buying one off of this forum some day lol.

Welcome!... But if you're looking for a faster car, stay with the Maxima. But if curves are your thing, come on in LOL

But yeah, these are unique cars, and can be a lot of fun.

looks like your Max is on par with an MTX SHO in terms of performance...of course, making your car significantly quicker is a lot easier than making mine...****...

Back in 2002 I was looking at either a SHO or a Max and ended up going with the SHO. A buddy of mine had a 95 Max and I really liked it. Maybe some day...

SHO > Maxima

only thing is, maxima has a lot more aftermarket... and that says a lot cause the maxima aftermarket ain't shit compared to other nissans lol.....

I used to like maximas, almost bought a 96, sooooo glad I walked away from it. The SHO is also noticeably faster

in stock form, true...but compare a 3.2 swap to a 3.5 VQ swap and you'd likely witness a whole different outcome...

I'd like to see that someday, are there any texas 3.2 swappers? I'd be interested to run them, but you guys are on the heavy side....

I will be in orlando late july, your car running :)?

^ What this guy said, I plan on doing a 3.5 swap, but I'd like to race some 3.2s...... on the track *cough cough*

Warning: Joining this forum can cost you thousands of dollars and can cause you to meet great friends for life!

True on my other forums, maxima.org, v6performance, acurazine.....

I'm around 6k (including car purchase and major maintenace) over the last few years with this car.

I'm not looking for a faster car by any means, it's more of a collection type thing, one day I would like to be in the position to own some fast grocery getters, and a first gen SHO w/ a 3.2 is what i'd want in my little collection...

I know the general basics of the car, but I would want to know more in depth details about it which is why I joined.

PS. Our aftermarket BLOWS BALLS! Half the stuff you see on ebay is plain garbage, you guys can do A LOT more things without customizing/ghetto rigging something to your car than you can with a 95-03 maxima.

And to the rest, thanks for the kind welcomes!

SHOs aren't that heavy compared to a max...most MTX cars'll slide in under 3500 with driver and full interior. my "base" model 95 with my fat ass and a bunch of crap in the back seat weighed a bit over 3300 a few years back, and i've shaved some weight off it since then. btw, look up the guys from North Texas Performance...i'm sure tony and his boys'll be more than happy to show you a SHO's potential...

Yup, like I thought, SHO's are heavy, but the motor makes up for it, pushing a bit more than we are stock for stock which is why our magazine #'s are verrryyy close.

I'm 2970 with me (270lbs) in the car....

And yes that's one of my friend's WRX's.

I'll shoot that Tony guy an email sooner or later when I'm up in Dallas, like I said before, I'd love to run against a modded sho after running into one on the highway and looking over y'alls dynographs, I think it will be a very fun race.

But I didn't come here for that.... Came here for edumacations.... Just love that plenum design, I find it gorgeous.... I would have love to steal and copy that design for my car (but I've given up on my stock motor), it always has great results in the top end, thus why Honda has kept using it for over a decade on their v6's, u shaped plenum with the short runners.

Um... You want to run against Tony?

I know some of the Honda motors have a similar looking intake, but are they dual stage?
