Has anyone had this problem yet? I have a 93 sho with 3.2. Could a bad resistor assembly cause that? I hope not...they want over 200 bucks for it. Or is it maybe just the switch in the eatc,...of which a new one is on the way.
THoughts??
tks,
Terry

Start with the resistor assembly and get one on this forum in the "Parts Wanted" section. They are usually under $50.00 shipped. That will cure the "only works on high" issue, the "won't shut off" part is not a sure thing with this fix, but probably it will cure it.

The SHOs don't have a resistor pack - they have a Blower Control Module (BCM), and there's a relay that goes bad in there and causes what you are describing to happen. You need to find a replacement one of those.

Some folks have been able to repair it, but you have to be very delicate and find the exact circuit on the board that is bad. A lot of work.

Easier to find a good BCM in a junkyard.

It is under the dash/glovebox area.

This is a strange problem. My 91 was doing this for a couple days earlier in the week but has now stopped.

Interesting. I pulled the fuse for now. Maybe some moisture go into the module causing it to stick on. It has been dry for 2 days so far. maybe I will leave it and see what happens.

your stuck in eatc test mode. there is a combination of buttons to get out of it or if that doesn't work complete battery disconnection and drain fixed mine.

Ok, so I have to retract my statement. My 94 did this today. Wouldn't turn off and stuck on high fan.
I put in a blower resister and it fixed it. I would offer one for being wrong but that was my last used one. Used to have a box full. Sorry

I know this thread was necro'd, but someone else was interested in the issue, so for reference, the BCM is the module with the white sticker under the stack of connectors:

Is it still available? I have the same exact issue with the blower turning on high seconds after car is started and it doesn't stop. Would a new climate control head unit do the trick? Or is it specifically the BCM and only the BCM that will do the trick?
