Help an Atari guy in a Play Station world here. What the heck is this thread about? Is this one of those tuning gizmos/software that can improve the performance of our SHOs? Would a SHO in stock trim benefit from this, or just ones that have been modded?

Binary Editor is software that accesses the tuning hardware that connects to the Ford computers (PCM). The hardware being a TwEECer or Quarter Horse can be utilized for real time tuning and datalogging.

DO NOT PURCHASE ONE OF THESE USED, this is the old unsupported parallel port version of the TwEECer RT, notice the ribbon cable.

Binary Editor EEC Analyzer

Hello all my name is Clint and i am the creator of the Binary Editor and EEC Analyzer software that Adam and Josh are referring to. With Josh and Adams hard work the SHO family is now supported in Binary Editor.

If you have any questions on the software please email me or post here and i will do my best to answer them.

My questions are ... what can I do with BE that I can't with Caledit and what is the datalog differences between BE and Calcon?

The TwEECer datalogging in B.E. is 100% working. There is realtime trace graphing along with the digital dashboard that can be set to signals that you want to see (custom configurable). Organized layout of variables, scalars, functions and tables for each section is grouped together, datalogging trace in tables (a bullet will show you where in the spark and fuel tables real time. A full description of a majority of the scalars, functions and tables.

The HUGE issue that I have with CalCon is how it sporadically datalogs. During acceleration, I may have 5-7 readings at 7100 RPM and nothing between 7101 and 7500. I have datalog after datalog where there are massive holes of missing data in the upper RPMs and when you are running as much boost as I am, you need and want that data.

That problem is non existent in BE.

Its awesome...

The sample rate for data is adjustable in B.E.

Is that for the TwEECer, Quarterhorse, or both? With CalCon + TwEECer, only the playback rate is adjustable, and the logging rate is a function of the speed of your computer, and the datalogging screen visible at the time, i.e. no screen showing logs faster than the digital screen, and the analog screen is the slowest of all ...

Can QH log more samples per second than the TwEECer, all else being equal? I have yet to play with QH ...

Yes the QH can log faster and more signals (not limited to 32 byte payload), in truth speed is limitied only because mike has restricted it as it impacks performance on the slower machines.

Did Mike limit it in the hardware, or the CalCon? I.e. can you adjust the logging rate with BE and a TwEECer?

Fairly sure calcon software as the tweecer datalogs faster in b.e. The SHO is one of very few Ford engines that high revs from the factory, not very common with Fords.

My rate is 1000ms for both dash refresh and datalog rate. Seems like it logs alittle slow still.
