bearing install

Im getting ready to do the bearings in my red 92 just cuz i dont wanna blow up my second engine. The oil light didnt come on yet as it did in my other car months before it blew up but it has 132K and the other motor had 122K. Is it feasible for me to attempt this with the motor in the car? It appears to me that if i take the pipe off i can get to the pan easily.
