Will it make a difference if I use two gaskets and should I still torque the the nuts to 15ft lbs?

No need for dual threads sir.

i tried searching for you. but little to no quality information can be had. most if not all of it was opinions.

IMO. they are a velocity stack. therefore are designed to help increase air flow.

but a lot of people say they are just in the way. i couldnt find any dyno proof either way as our search engine isnt very helpful on this subject (from the terms i tried)

Only 1 gasket for the secondary butterfly's.

It's hard to get a torque wrench on all the nuts.
Too be safe, you can use a 1/4 inch drive wrachet.

If you measure the "horn" you will see that it is smaller than the BBB you are installing.

It seems to me that the secondaries are taking air from the back of the tank with the horns in. Without the horns it seems to me that the primaries will starve for air since the secondaries will create vacuum right next to them, is that correct.

No. Incorrect. One of the main reasons that the horns are in there are for noise reduction. And, if you think about it there is actually more room for the air to flow without them. With the horns in there there is a small centimeter gap between the horn and plenum wall that takes an almost 90 degree bend so you could argue both sides.

No horns. One gasket. ;)

This has been debated time and time again. The general consensus is to pull them for the exact reason stated above, they are smaller in diameter than the BBB's and with that logic will restrict air flow.

I pulled mine when I did my BBB install. Besides, it sounds more aggressive without the horns. :)

^^ What are you doing up at 4am??

The other reason for the horns is to act as a velocity stack, extending the length of the runners and drawing air into the secondaries. With BBB's the horns are not necessary as the consensus is that the smaller diameter of the horns will restrict air flow.

I could have sworn I posted in this thread already...

*EDIT* nevermind I see two threads were created.... why?

When you disassemble the intake you will see. They are sheet metal velocity stacks.

I've already disassembled my intake once when I painted it & did my 60k. I have no idea what you are talking about... and what are "metal velocity stacks"??

Does anyone have pictures they can label for me? I know I"m making myself sound stupid but I don't care, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I thought that the horns were there to lengthen the secondary tracts (for resonance tuning reasons), not for noise reduction (or at least not primarily for noise reduction)...

That is, the secondary runners are resonance tuned for a given RPM, and if you remove the horns (or change their length in any way), you change the overall length of the secondary intake path, thus changing the optimum "tuned" RPM where they function.

Granted, since they're smaller in diameter than the BBBs, clearly they must go, but just keep in mind that removing them results in a change of the intake secondary "tune". If I understand the theory correctly, this will tune the secondaries for a slightly lower RPM than factory... whatever that is.

Regards,
Jon Heese
