Yeah I take it out when I know I will have passengers, once again get the quick release part - it mounts to the base plate, then put the rod on top. Sad, after reading these forums I see many weak points that crop up for many of us.I just want to share that I had the exact issue with the Sync APIM and pulled every fuse trying to find the drain source and it ended up being an internally shorted battery. Once I changed the battery the drain stopped and the Sync and display worked properly and turned off properly.
