Over the last year or so, somethings been draining the sho's battery when I let it sit for a while. Last year I found the source of one of the battery drains but there's something else draining on it. Does anyone know of a quality battery cut-off switch I could order? I know several are sold on Amazon.

Thanx,

John

I had one of these on my MGB. Just remove the key and car would not start. I put a small fuse across the 2 terminal so radio would not lose memory. Try to start it, fuse blows and no start. I had it in the negative cable. Of course this is not the purpose you are using it for. A MGB is too easy to steal without doing something.

Have you tried pulling all fuses and keep adding one till have amp draw.
Second I have heard of alternators going bad and cause battery drain.
I assume tried the obvious, trunk or hood light, Maurice

I would start with the Wal-Mart model that costs about $4.00 and see how that goes.

Thanks for the suggestion. When the battery's charged and /or replaced, I'll
check them out. Right now, I'm just paranoid about driving the sho without a cut-off.

Thanks Shovert. Earlier in April 2011, I had a new AAA battery installed(800cca). Then after a mild 2011/12 winter the battery would lose .10 volts each day if not driven. Brought it to wiring specialist in May 2012 who diagnosed the problem as improperly connected wiring on the power amp. He corrected the problem, but said the battery now wasn't any good now(650cca). The local mechanic said the battery was ok and two weeks ago, the AAA mechanic said it was showing 800cca after he charged it and that the charging system was ok.

Last year I did check the trunk, hood and glove compartment lights, nothing obvious. Anyhow, If the sho needs a new battery, ok, but on a 18 year old sho, things can happen. Therefore, I was hoping that the the cut-off switch would give me some peace of mind.

Thanx,

John

I just dug out my disconnect switch from my parts collection and put it on my 95 SHO.
I also have a problem with the battery going dead after prolonged sitting. But even if you are working on the car and have the door open, I only get a few hours of that and my battery is low; I think there are a lot of interior lights and whatever that use a lot of power.
The unit is all brass with a coloured **** on the top of it, that you tighten to make the connection, and loosen to play dead.
It is a WalMart product no 1067733, and it is called "Ever Start Swan Terminal Disconnect.
I tried it today and it works great. They show it being installed on the positive terminal and that is what I did, but I wonder if it matters.
