You get a good number of fails from some of those quick change **** places. That's not to say they messed it up for sure but I try and stay away from them.

Went to meineke for a diagnostic, they said it was the issue. I’m going purchase one from the ford dealership just so I have the warranty.

They are a seller of official Ford parts (usually at better prices). Warranty on the part should be standard. Installation? I don't know how that works.

Are you experiencing any drivability issues at all? So far I just read that you have a leak, it appears to be gear oil from PTU, directly after going to a shitbox **** shop. Are you for sure it just wasn't over-filled or something similar? Where is the leak coming from.. the vent up top or? I would just try to find more out before shelling out for a new PTU. Best of luck.
I decided to replace the PTU with a new one, I won’t have to worry about it later.

I would suggest you get comfortable enough to do some of this stuff yourself and/or find a reliable good mechanic to keep up with this stuff. Even dealer service is hit and miss. Those national chain oil and muffler places are much worse. I have a guy at the speedy chain shop I would trust with anything in my old SHO and f150. but everyone else there, no way. And having used a bunch in other chain shops in that area.. nope.

that’s true, I learned my lesson. This is off topic but is possible to install the L E D conversion kit on a 2010 sho ? I can’t find anything about it

I dunno. that's never been an interest of mine, but there is a post or two floating around. Start a new one and ask.
Only issue I’m having is with the bulbs. Ford told me only their bulbs will work

I would just clean up the area and keep driving it. Check it out first. It may have just been overfilled. Judging from the service ticket, they either put you on the spending elevator or you don't mind throwing money at your car. After getting screwed up at Valvoline, why go to a muffler shop to get your PTU checked?
PTU gear oil is far from odorless, but it does smell way better when brand new. Old fluid smells like ... well you won't be getting that stink off your clothes any time soon. Have someone else "smell test" it.
I'll 3rd the motion that potentially it was just overfilled. This past fall, my stepfather had his trans flushed on his f250 the week before a trip to the U.P. The truck ran flawlessly for 400+ miles. But once we hooked our 24' pontoon to the back she was belching transmission fluid pretty bad from the vent within 30 minutes. Never got low on fluid, never had a drivability problem for the 300 mile haul home or in the 5 months that have passed since, and has never leaked since.
So I finally got around to doing my first oil change on my ‘16 PP (3k miles since I bought it, 45k total). I too had a fair bit of gear oil along my PTU. Only in my case the oil looked and felt brand new so I highly doubt an actual leak. I’m hoping the dealership I bought it from went above and beyond and actually changed the PTU fluid, leaving a little mess behind. Or the other possibility might be that it’s actually brake fluid and my ******* can’t tell the difference, but I don’t know if there’s even any brake lines in the vicinity that could be a source. It was very thick and a little tacky. I’m open to any interpretation or suggestions from those more in the know on PTU problems! Sorry the pictures suck but you know how it goes crawling around under a car in the dark
There is no mistaking brake fluid for gear oil. Brake is very thin, has a unique feel when rubbed between your fingers, and will wreck your skin. Gear oil smells, is thick, usually black, and is impossible to wash off completely.
Thank you. I thought so but it’s been so long since I’ve even looked at a bottle of brake fluid that I was doubting myself. So yeah it’s definitely gear oil but I think it looks too pristine to have previously resided in my PTU. Just going to wipe it off and keep an eye on it for now I suppose

If you get hard pressed there are dyes for all automotive fluids so you can differentiate
