Ok. My 93 ATX has lost all gears except for 1st and Reverse. This was instant, with no preceding warning signs. I parked the car, and the next day, no shift.

It will hold 1st until redline, and then neutral out if you let on the gas. If you put it in '1', it still has engine braking.

Now.. I also noticed my cluster is dead at the same time. My speedometer still works, but all of the other gauges and lights are dead.

Coincidence? I can't pull codes easily because I have no CEL and I can't find my multimeter...

What fuse controls the cluster? The only burned fuse I have is my A/C Compressor / EATC blend door fuse, which has been a problem for months (Bad EATC i believe)...

Any Suggestions? I was looking at the solenoid chart for the AX4S and was thinking about trying to energize solenoid #1 and #2 manually to see if I can produce a shift...

hmm... I'm sorry I can't help you on the ATX issues, but a blown blend door fuse can very easily be caused by a bad blower speed control module. I had the exact same problem. The BSCM is much easier to replace than either an EATC or a blend door!

Its possible that your lack of shifting to 2nd is due to a bad shift solenoid, but more likely its an internal problem. iirc, they had a tendency for the shift pistons to crack (and then leak) which would prevent engagement of that gear.

My 1993 ATX had the same problem well except for the dash problem you mention. I only had 1st and reverse and it happened without any prior problems. The transmission failed and I do mean failed.

You could try to find a reputable transmission shop that has the tool to plug into the transmission and force it to shift.

Good luck

Ok, well transmission issues aside, the fusebox diagram is vague.

Which fuse controls the cluster?
