I had my old clockspring burn out on me (smoke from behind the airbag is SCARY!) and I've replaced it with one that is close to the same, came out of another 94 SHO, parts #'s are one letter off and ford said they both work. Unfortunately my airbag light is still flashing and my cruise control doesn't work. However I can hear the horn relay working (horns are d/ced because they went nuts when the clockspring died).

Could anyone help me diagnose this? I just did the BDA/Heatercore so I'm in it enough hours to care that the cruise control isn't working and that damn airbag light is driving me nuts...

I swapped a 94 clockspring into my 91 so it should work. However the problem may not be isolated to the clockspring. It could have shorted out other things. Is your 94 an ATX or MTX?

it's an ATX... I'm going to dig into it this weekend. I did the swap at the same time I did the BDA so that might be a problem. I might give that blue box a shot too

Count the "flashes", the AIR BAG Light flashes codes just like the Check Engine Light. Do a search, the information is already here on the ABS codes.

You should post the information from your other thread here - it's the same problem.

I forgot about the first thread, sorry. It's a code 5-1, which I detailed in the other thread. I'm just not sure what to do about it.

Also I've tried the blue airbag box and it didn't fix the problem. Also I've been testing the cruise control per the factory manual and the clockspring is working because I'm getting info at the speed control servo when buttons are pressed

Ok I've essentially worked this out myself after reading many posts and the shop manual.

The 5-1 code is showing that the internal fuse within the airbag module is blown, due to a short and this is not a servicable part. I had swapped it but still got the 5-1 code (parts sourced used and from a "parts bin" so I'm getting two more).

The important info is that the codes denote an actual short in the system precede the 5-1, which denote the thermal fuse is blown and that there is no current short. Due to the fact my clockspring burnt up (likely due to a short) I can see where the short came from and I have now fixed it.

So the fix will simply be a new airbag module, I just need one that hasn't seen a short.

As for the cruise control I followed the pinpoint test and the buttons on the steering wheel are bad.... $6 from ebay got me a new set :)
