Hello, all my fellow SHO enthusiasts.
I have a 2016 and I am having an issue with the steering wheel controls. It started when my camera stopped functioning correctly a few weeks ago (Known Issue and only relevant as a frame of reference). When my camera stopped working, my SYNC control pad stopped working also, but, not entirely. The up direction became the right or enter button, the enter, left, and down stopped working and the right worked as it should. After disconnecting the battery, resetting and updating the SYNC software (as instructed to repair the camera issue) the controls worked just fine. Here we are a few weeks later and my SYNC controls still work as they are supposed to, However, as of a couple days ago, the left controls started doing the same thing, the up is up and sometimes enter, the right is right and sometimes enter, the enter, left, and down buttons don't work. I don't want to try and do a factory reset again if I can avoid it or any reset for that matter.
My question is... Am I looking at something that can only be fixed by swapping old hardware for new hardware, or is there a fundamental software bug or glitch that needs to be addressed?
Also, side note, my battery is on it's last leg and on its way out, it only holds about 10.6 volts, since I'm still running a 2-farad capacitor it holds enough voltage to keep the car alive and allow me to start it up. While it's running, I'm getting around 14.4 volts. I'm wondering now, could the steering wheel controls issue be resolved by something as simple as a battery replacement?

I had an explorer (same platform, same wheel, etc) that started having wheel button issues on the left directional pad and sometimes cruise, almost to the point of unable to use. When the battery let me know it was ready to retire with slow cranks, I changed the battery. it was corroded so badly the positive terminal ate the plastic off the battery and I pulled the post out of the battery with the terminal. I decided to replace it and the terminal, grease it, etc. With a fresh battery the buttons worked perfectly. Don't understand it, voltage fluctuation in these things will make it act haunted, When my SHO started in with the same BS I changed the battery and it fixed it as expected. Id recommend a light spray of dust off under the pad too, 9 years of eating on the go things can get kind of gross in there, Ive heard contact cleaner works well too, but primary suspect for many of your issues is the battery.

Thanks for the replies. If it helps further solidify the theory that the battery is the culprit, my power seats and wheel will move when I shut down the car (easy egress/ingress) as they should, but the next time I get into my car, the wheel will move but the seat will not return to my driving position. If I press memory button 2 they move to the other saved position, then I press button 1 and some of the time, everything moves back to my position.
