abs light

I have a 92 mtx. When i bought the car the abs light was on, the previous owner said that the front r/s sensor was the problem so i checked it out and it was chewed through, so i replaced the sensor and the light is still on. was wondering if i have to hook it up to a computer and clear any stored codes to get the light to go off. any input would be helpful. thanks

no every time you start the comp it SHOULD reset the abs. it may be another abs sensor

yep, check the others. more than just that one could be bad.

i have driven the car since i changed the sensor, i'll have to pull codes and check out what other problems i have thanks guys

My experience does not agree with that statement.

When I have had an ABS light on, and replaced the faulty sensor, the ABS light cleared as normal the very next time I started the car, without moving it.

I've had both situations happen on my former 93. Didn't make sense to me that I had to drive to get the light out at the time....

I just read the sticky and tried to pull mine using a paper clip on the connector....when I turn the key to run, the ABS light does not come on; then about 20 seconds after the car is sitting in the run position, it simply pops on and does not flash.

I looked at the connector diagram to make sure I put the paper clip in right, but nothing. Actually I used one of those Christmas tree ornament hooks since I couldn't find a paper clip. Maybe the wire is too thin? I'll see if I can find something else to use.

i only asked about having to drive the car to get the light off cause there are abs systems that require the vehicle to move past a certain speed to register. for expample on heavy duty trucks. I jumped out my abs connector and got a slew of codes, 28, 31, 35, 36, 37, 44, 43, 62, and 63. does any body have an idea of which direction i should go about diag. basically this says all my sensors are bad, one inlet valve, travel switch and pump motor speed sensor. all input is appreciated. thanks.

You should start by looking up what the codes mean, and fixing whatever that tells you to fix....

no offense but your an idiot, the codes say all 4 sensors are bad a valve is bad and a pump motor is bad, now im pretty sure that all of those items are not bad being that i had already changed the front r/s abs sensor with a new one, and it says it is still bad. so if your going to be sarcastic read the post before you are. just asking for any input im sure i can fix the problem!

I'm not offended, but I'm not the idiot here.... You say you pulled a bunch of codes and want help taking care of them, but you don't tell us what the codes are. You expect us to be mind readers? If you want help, give us enough information to help you. Otherwise, just fix it yourself and don't clog up the forum with stupid posts.

If it is telling you all those things are bad, you most likely either have a bad ABS controller, or bad wiring to or from the ABS controller. You would start by following the troubleshooting for the ABS wiring in the manual. If you don't have a Ford service manual, now would be a good time to acquire one.

i wasnt clogging things up i actually did post all the code numbers and there meanings a couple of post ago, i have the manual for everything on this car and am very good with diag, was just wondering if anyone had input thats all.
