My ABS light has been coming on intermittently while driving; it comes on briefly then goes off a few seconds later. This all came on suddenly after my abs kicked in one day while I was coming to a stop, one of the wheels was on top of a sewer grate and lost traction when it was wet out and I felt he ABS kick in. Since then the light comes on now and then.

I tried to pull abs codes but nothing happens, the bulb doesn't illuminate when I turn the key for bulb check either, isn't it supposed too?

I'm thinking maybe I have a bad ground somewhere.

front reluctor rings (rings on the halfshafts) appear to be in good shape.
Where to start?

What year car? Sounds like a wheel speed sensor going bad. If so, their expensive, and hard to get out of the wheel assembly. When mine did this, I unpluged the abs module, and took the bulb out. I actually liked the feel of the brakes better without the abs. Good luck.

Replace the relays just because you should, they are dirt cheap ($10 to 15) and if it clears up the problem thats a bonus. I looked all over my ABS system when i was having intermittent problems with it replaced the box, and cleaned the crap out of everything. $10 later I had working ABS and could have avoided mounds of frustration.

Thanks, will give it a shot.

It's a 95 MTX, and I will be moving up north soon where there is lots of snow, so I'll try and keep the ABS unless it's too expensive.
