I am throwing 4 codes.
RF Speed input fault
RF Missing Input
RF speed input low at 0 mph
RR Speed input fault

I will add the code numbers tonight dont have the sheet... Anyway...

Resistance of a good wheel sensor is 1200-1900 k ohms

Verified resistance is 1700 k ohms for the speed sensor, and have a strong reading from the sensor all the way to the abs control module. Pin 7 and 20 for the RF sensor on the ABS connector. Verified no short to grounds with either wire going to the speed sensor. A piece of article stated 5v should be at one of the pins when taken the other lead of the meter to ground. I do not have 5v at either pin. So I would assume that the ABS control module is bad at this point.

Is it possible to replace the module without removing the pump or is that just hopes and dreams?

The ABS system has 2 major components:

- The ABS Control Module
- The ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU)

Both are replaceable independent of one another.

Crap, this is the V8 section. Nevermind what I said, that only applies to 1990 - 1995.

You have it correct on a V8 too, Hamal. I just dont know if you have to remove the pump to take the module off.

From what I have researched so far looks like the bolts that hold the module on are junk and that I would more than likely twist them off. So do I attempt to remove just the module or say screw it and pull the whole assembly?

Status Update...

I just purchased a $320.00 ABS Control Module from rockauto with 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I will be replacing the unit sometime next week.

Any suggestions on the repair?

I think I might pull the whole (pump/computer) out of the car because it sounds like the screws that hold on the computer could be a issue if not treated gentle. Should I purchase replacement screws just in case? Anybody know the exact size and thread pitch?

Any Ideas would be most appreciated!

They're goofy yellow zinc coated screws with torx heads and are similar to the old gen 1 caliper bolts.

If it's a southern car, you can probably leave the pump in the car. Back in '05 I did just the computer on my '97 that had close to 200K on it and was a northeast car, and it didn't give me a problem (other than being a royal pain in the ass).

It's not much harder to just take the whole thing off. Much easier to try and separate it.

Remove the master cylinder to module brake lines and bend them up. Remove the other lines. Then there are three bolts that attach it to the frame.

I am having a **** of a time locating a abs module. First Rockauto cancelled my order, not in stock. Then ebay auction got cancelled, part defective. lol

I cant win!

There are some 99 modules listed at salvage yards and some 98 modules but I would be concerned about getting a 98. Has anybody succesfully sent a module off for repair? Anybody have pictures of the trouble area of this modules?
