Well I have ran into a problem car been running fine then went out an started my 95 sho an it didn't want to start at first but it started. The tech didn't read an check engine light came on. Started trying to die then all of a sudden tech started working an check engine light was off. Has anybody had this happen to them?

Change your Camshaft Sensor. Common problem on older SHOs that haven't been maintained. Probably have oil leaking from the camshaft seal behind the sensor causing the problem.

Also with a car this old you should consider a SHO specific Helm's shop repair manual cheap from ebay like these
there are some small differences from 89-95 but the basic engine is the same and these come in handy if you have to do some of the work yourself.

You can check your codes stored in the computer https://web.archive.org/web/20070518111620mp_/http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm

A quick check to see if it's the cam sensor is to disconnect the connector going to it. Try starting the engine, it may take a few tries since the engine does not have the cam senor to help it start. If it ends up being the cam sensor and it went bad due to oil leaking behind it, you will need to change the cam seal as well as the cam sensor. Pulling your codes as mentioned above is always a good start to help you figure out what is causing your issue.

I found a bare wire an I don't think this should be like this. Motor an trans have been replaced an I think the harness got chopped. I checked all grounds they r good. I have a cam sensor if its that but I think there's more. the wires in the pic the black a red wire get hot

If I had my evtm manual I'd look for it but that has been gone for a while. Hopefully someone can give you a good answer. You can look at the cam sensor wiring plug and see if the colors match.

damn. there are wiring manuals that have the routing and color codes like red with brown stripe and you can see where it is supposed to go.

Check the codes to see if you have a 214: CID circuit failure which would indicate a bad camshaft sensor. Also contains code meanings. Most of the codes don't cause the Check Engine light to come on:

Can be done with a paper clip, but I recommend you get one of these:

If the sensor is bad, run your finger along the bottom of it to see if it's wet with oil. If so, you will need to change the seal behind the sensor as well....

Camshaft Sensor (Duralast) F134 $38 Autozone
Camshaft Seal (National) 1213N $8 O'Reilly

You can download this file which is a shop manual in PDF format covering the '89 engine. Your engine will be virtually identical. You will need the Acrobat Reader:
