The Opal Frost is parts, thats for sure, but Id like to know if I can at least salvage the ATX. Car has 125K on original transmission (as far as I know its original). When I picked it up it was about two quarts low and the fluid was dirty but did not smell burnt. When cold the transmission shifts normally and 1st and reverse gears work perfectly. When the temp gauge gets up around the "L" the ATX starts to lose 1st and reverse. It will start popping into gear (harsh) after 2-3 seconds, and then after the car has fully warmed up there is no engaugement, but you can feel a slight joilt as the transmission is trying to go into gear, and there is a bit of forward (or reverse) movement (e.x. it will creep along slowly on a level road) but it is definitley not in gear. A search revealed it could possibly be the VSS. Anything else it could be? Thoughts?
thanks!
