My fan motor just crapped, and I just ordered a VDO PM9023 replacement motor which is listed as the proper replacement for the 93 mtx in several locations. Weeelll... aside from the harness being too short, mounting tabs not lining up at all, and the shaft not fitting the fan, it fits great!

Does anybody know of a replacement motor that will actually fit? Part number?

For that matter, it was just the brushes that failed - anybody know where to get replacements?

you should be able to find an electric motor repair shop that will rebuild your current motor.

Thanks - I've checked with several electric motor repair shops locally, and so far none of them want to mess with a small fan motor. They seem to specialize in industrial stuff (Detroit area - go figure ;) ).

Really all it needs is new brushes and some TLC.

This is my DD, so a direct replacement is preferable just due to wanting to minimize down-time. Really disconcerting that everything seems to keep pointing me back to a part that doesn't work at all. I'd be on the road right now if the VDO part had been right...

I've also located a NOS fan assembly, but it's ~$300. Just wanted to see if there is a better option out there before I pull the trigger on it.

Always fix the the fan motor that you have. There are so many variations on these things that it never seems to work out.
It is a miracle that you got your old motor out of the plastic shroud, and your fan wheel off the motor shaft.
Then, it was merciful that the shaft size was wrong, because you would have found the fan wheel would have rubbed on the plastic mounting housing when you mounted it.
Then there is the old issue of single speed versus two speed. I know 92s are single and 94, 95s are two speed, but I don't know what a 93 is.

Take a good look at your plug and get an entire fan shroud set-up here on this forum, or fix your old motor with new brushes.

AFAIK, there are no replacement motors available for the MTX single speed fan.
