New to the SHO lifestyle. I bought this car over a month ago. Did spark n wire swap, thermostat swap(with a failsafe to be on the safe side) didn't had any issues with it. Last week coming from school it started sputtering/misfiring. Got it towed home. This past Sunday I swap the cam sensor, coil pack. I bought the MAF (have't installed it) to eliminate all those issues. At first start up its running like it should a minute later it starts acting up, Pressing on gas to get the rpms up its back to normal( chk engine light goes off) once i let it settle it goes below RPM Specs n it starts acting up. I did notice at times I loose spark at the coil pack in two ports, once its at high rpms its normal. I know its something simple I'm overlooking. not sure if anyone else has had this issue. Any advice to solve this issue will be greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!

IM not good with the OBD1 codes, but that will Be my next step.

codes, clean or swap the maf, post back. Do you have instructions on how to obtain the codes? Record all the flashes on vid if you think that might help with other people reading them.

thanks for taking the time to read my issue, i will swap the MAF as soon as i get home. Ill post an update as soon as i see the outcome. As far as the codes I grounded the wire n recorded the codes, and i was able to read a few codes w my scanner. Just clueless on how they are read its several 2digit codes.

Check oil pressure and fuel pressure. If you can make a video of the flashes, that will help also.

And welcome/congrats :)

Also be aware that aftermarket MAF are usually good but there have been some that did not function properly. It happens with certain parts. Also code readers are generally unreliable with some exceptions. I don't recall which brands are accurate vs others. The wire jumper with dash light flashes is tried and true for pulling codes. There are instructions available somewhere if you need them.

YouTube is probably the way to go. I think you can upload to flickr and imgur as well. Avoid photobucket.

the first set of codes is the "current" codes - those which pop up while the test is being conducted:

111 - all ok

the second set of codes is the "stored" codes - those that have been set since the last time they were reset:

157 = msfs signal is/was grounded (this is fatal, and must be fixed for the engine to run properly)
177 = left/front oxy sensor rich (this is usually a bad oxy sensor)
212 = tach signal erratic or spout circuit failure (this is usually a bad cam sensor)
215 = primary coil pack 1 failure (in my experience this is usually a bad DIS)
217 = primary coil pack 3 failure (usually a bad DIS)
219 = spout circuit failure, timing defaulted to 10 degrees (this is often due to a bad connection on the spout connector)
542 = fuel pump fault (this is set when the engine stalls, and can almost always be ignored)

From this, I conclude that it likely needs a cam sensor, oxygen sensors, a DIS, and correction of the spout circuit in order to run properly.

Good Morning. Thank you for assisting with this.
We can eliminate the CAM Sensor, I swap it out w/ a new one 4 days ago.(Given that its not a defective item).
OXYGEN Sensors have been swapped as-well.
DIS- as in injectors etc?
Spout circuit- where can i find this connector?

DIS is the distributerless ignition system. The DIS module is the gray one on the end of the intake manifold with a set of wiring clips on each side.
