I started talking to this guy about it prior to finding out M was getting cut loose. I felt like an outsider and I was desperate to get back in the club.

There is a caveat, he wants to include a second parts/rebuild car. Not sure she’s quite built for the 2100 mile journey and I’m pretty sure the other SHO doesn’t have a bumper ball. ;)

It’s a shame he wrecked it. It had the full 100K and trans done at the same time as the other one. Flawless black interior.

Yeah we’re still going back and forth. But, whatever happens I’ll keep this thread updated. So if I don’t end up making the deal and someone else is interested, with the owners permission, I could direct message you his info.

It’s the distance that will probably **** the deal. If I could drive and trailer them back a reasonable distance it would be a different story but the cost of transport for one, let alone two cars for 2,100 miles makes it tough. And, the fact that neither one runs doesn’t help.

I’ve decided to pass on these cars. The asking price for both was more than fair but the absolute best shipping quote I found was $2,300. They’re located in Bakersfield California and I’m in northwest Indiana. It still would have been worth it in the long run but my situation had changed at the moment making it difficult take on the project.

If anyone who followed this thread has any interest I’ll gladly connect you to the owner. He does plan to list them on the forum.

Just reviewed this thread and I did indeed have the wrong firing order. Rubydist had it right:
5 1
6 2
4 3

I apologize for the confusion

Won’t start. The guess is fuel pump but you never know.
Nice car and mods, I would hope the owner would try starting fluid to see if it's the fuel pump before giving up on it.

If you don't hear the fuel pump prime the rails when you turn on the ignition:

Open up the trunk and locate the cutoff switch with a red button on the drivers side. Make sure that the button is pushed down.

Unbolt the switch take the connector off, jumper it at the harness connector and attach a voltmeter to it and ground. Turn the ignition on to see if you get voltage at the switch. If you do: bad pump or wiring between the cutoff switch and pump. If you don't: bad CCRM. Located under the information plate at the front of the engine bay.

The owner is elderly now and unable to really do anything himself. And just doesn’t have the funds or mechanical ability to do anymore with it.

That is my biggest fear in life. Out living my usefulness. Sad day. If this was a clean 3rd Gen, I would seriously consider flying into Bakersfield to check it out. Already lived the 2nd Gen life though.

I considered the same. Fly out there swap the pump out and drive it home. But with so many unknowns the whole thing could be a bust. Maybe it’s more than the pump or worse it fires up and I get myself stranded in Utah in the middle of nowhere overheated on the side of the road.
