i have a 92 mtx, 3.2 conversion done about 4 yrs ago. having intermittent issues getting more and more common. I'll be driving along and it happens the same everytime first the low coolant light comes on, then a minute later the check engine light comes on, bout another minute the tach drops to zero and the car bucks and sputters and sometimes backfires like the timing is all out of wack. shut it down wait about 5-15 minutes start it back up and ussually the lights go off, the tach comes back up and it drives like nothing ever happened. this used to happen about once every 2 weeks then every couple days and now its like almost everytime i drive it & lately i gotta wait up to an hour before i can get it started again. any ideas? not sure how to decifer codes heres a vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nnyw0nFF6M

Aliens. It's flashing the CEL, and the pattern I picked up was (each number is the # of times the CEL blinked) 11214528542 11214528542

I'm sure there is some kind of codes in there.

I'm not in burlington any more I live in fairhaven now and Im not sure how far this thing will make it these days, but thank you. I couldnt figure out the codes either thats why i recorded it and still nothing. I took another one and it seems the numbers are differnt from the one I took yesterday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38cwyFs0bDc 153 853 652 or 11 538 536 521 oh yeah btw I'm not making tea on my dashboard, my heater when in the off position just kinda goes on when ever it feels like it. I replaced the CID about 2 months ago cuz i thought that might be the issue and it seemed to work for about a week then it was the same. I guess I'll try the DIS and CCRM/ICRM. The DIS has to be grounded to the intake with some kind of electrical paste when its replaced correct?

Yes DIS should have zinc paste applied to the back of it. Computer heat sink paste is the same stuff. Dielectric grease will work, but it's primary function is not the facilitation of heat transfer.

If it's not the DIS, I'd be surprised.

When the low coolant light comes on, is there coolant in the bottle or is it dry?

I don't think Paste on DIS helps ground. It grounds by screws. But, yes, when that sucker gets hot , especially if there are any cracks there, that you may not even see, a lot of crazy stuff happens. I crushed one of my cars like that.

I too would check the DIS. That paste that is on there is thermal paste, and if it came with it OE then it should be on there still unless someone has wiped it off.

to me it sounds like you're crank sensor, when mine went bad my tack would not work for a few minutes if i gave it some gas about a 4k goose it would start working again, also when you're water pump goes it takes the cps with it, the low coolant light for me has always meant i had low coolant, check your water pump. Good luck
