I'm having my mechanic do the work but after our conversation today I told him to put a new factory TC on move on from the GH part... as far as a warranty from them, I have no idea??? In my experience with aftermarket parts and warranties they never work out well. Once I get the car back I'll reach out to them and see what they say
Would be awesome to have a shop open it up and find out what is so special about it or not so special.

I’m so tempted to sell my GH IC and give that ATS one a try. To seriously consider that I’d have to first talk with ATS and get some more details but the thought also crossed my mind to send ATS my GH TC as a core just to open it up. Bugging the $hit out of me not knowing what’s so special about it I want to know what’s in it.

While I am on a roll ha ha ha. Not sure what there is for torque converter info out there but we should probably gather all this up for a hopeful sticky at some point. Not sure if the search button works out there for this but....3 bolt vs 4 bolt converters: Do we know the cut off year for each and in what cars? PP, non-PP, 2010 to 12? etc. Thanks in advance!

This is the 2013+ 3-bolt converter:

From what I gather, this is the 10-12 4-bolt converter:

From here:

"Stock stall, higher efficiency unlocked from billet stator, brazed fins for durability, 20% more lockup clutch area with a higher energy material. Basically what the factory should have done...."

Yeah, I hear ya....furthermore, it seems as though they aren't very responsive; Unless, of course, you're runnign their tune. Perhaps it would be donation worthy to someone here to cut into if it comes down to it. Either way, sorry to hear of your troubles.
Thanks, there are a few people out there running these TC and I haven't seen much evidence of any issues so I want to say I'm just unlucky but yeah I wouldn't mind sending it somewhere to cut into it.. I will say though when you send them 5k they were pretty responsive LOL.. Ajpturbo tune since 2017!!!

Hang onto that thing and maybe @mike2225 can donate his if he's willing? Root cause analysis and construction ?'s in one shot!!

That said, be curious to see the mileage on the GH TCs in the field currently.

The cut off for the 3 bolt pattern, versus the 4 bolt pattern, is mid production from FMC, in the 2011 model year.

I originally had a 4 bolt style, but converted to a 3 bolt pattern, as that's all that GH had available at the time when I ordered mine.

They should have a 4 bolt pattern available now, (through GH) as a result of me having sent my OEM 2010 4-bolt pattern in as a core.

I am aware that GH does not fab these in house, but that's all I can really say about them.

Just heard back from Todd Weaver... the following is his reply to me, and I quote....

"Yes, I have circle D converter ... no issues at all ... I have stock stall. Not sure if anyone has done higher stall." ------- T. Weaver

Quick update!
Talked with Matt from Turbo Bay and got my invoice...... Turbos should be shipping next week along with other folks SHO turbskis in que. Just waiting on the wheels. Not gonna lie, seeing "full race build" has me in full marketing sucked in mode, LOL. Let's hope for the best.

Seeing what he does, I'm glad I just sent in my stockers since they basically don't get recycled.

Valvetrain is still about 4 weeks out so, my motor will stay in shrink wrap, taunting me.

Yeah, he rebuilt my ATP turbos and they actually run better, lol. I imagine he's pressing in the larger compressor intake to allow for a larger compressor wheel? If he's doing that to yours, just remember the stock hose coupler (if you're using it) is pretty tight and tough to get over.

IIRC you were the first on the forum to utilize him, yes? Great guy to deal with thus far. Taught me a lot.
I'll be running the EPP kit for all my piping but IIRC there are a couple or one stock pieces still used??

It was your turbos he brought up first that he was most curious about when I mentioned your recommendation, He was unaware of them being discontinued and why they were so popular in the SHO world. Thanks again, I'm sure there is satisfaction in members on here knowing we have more options for our platform. I ordered his stage 3, not going crazy, only mod i went with was him to go with his choice on turbine wheel to move TQ up in the rpm range.

Well, I was suggested to him by someone on FB that said he made turbo repairs. After conversation with him, turns out he had an option for the SHO. I can't say for certain how well it compares to the GH ones since I was just using his repair service. But from what I understand, his are sized somewhere between the GH and ATPs....will be interesting to see how they perform.

But using him as a repair option is also great as he does everything in-house.

The latest kit upgrades everything. The gen 1 retained the factory rear turbo coupler as John mentioned, the Gen 2 has an option to upgrade it to silicon.
