Picking up my motor Friday!!!!!
Turbos are in process, waiting on valvetrain parts, hoping to get better clutches for the trans and a torque converter but not looking so promising.

I'm going to do something I seldom do and start making some youtube videos as this progress.
I've learned so much here, I'd like to start giving back where/when I can.

I recall Circle D did make one for a previous SHO owner that was on this forum, as well as on the EBPF forum (his user name was: darreli).... lives in MI. but anyhow, he had (at that time) the only one, or the 1st one made for the platform, and without any other changes having been performed, just the installation of the CD TC only..... he was .6 SLOWER in the 1/4.

Now, IDK if CD has done anything since then (i.e. revisions, improvements, etc.) to that product offering of theirs, but I know that darreli had sold off his SHO and moved onto an F150.

It's been some time since I've spoken with him. Just ancillary information to chew upon if you choose to go that route.

For some reason I thought you were the "other" user in addition to Darreli haha. Was it Todd Weaver then?

Nope. I've always been the user profile you see currently and I never had an aftermarket TC until I purchased the one from GH, and then had the custom, lighter, racing flywheel made.

"darreli" in real life is: Darrell Stamper

**edit**

Oh wait. Lee, you thought that I had "the other TC", or was "the other user"??

Ha. Nope. Sorry. I misunderstood your post/reply. That's what I get for trying to answer while working. Juggling to much at once.

I don't think Weaver ever had a TC from CD. I'll reach out and ask him.

Can't wait to see the turbos from Turbo Bay. Hope they impress you. As I can't wait to see their potential.

I'm waiting GH to get the TC back in stock. What's your opinion on the GH TC and have you had any issues?

Further more it’s my understanding the original Circle D converter had an increased stall speed. And that GH’s TC is also a Circle D product now with stock stall speed.

@802SHO you may be correct, last I spoke with Matt on the Circle D offerings he said that he used to use them but that he had moved to a different supplier due to the Nick Olson situation that severed a lot of their relationships. Very possible he has them as an alternate supplier though.

When I spoke with Brady and Circle D yesterday to ask him again about the possibility of re-opening the SHO catalog (had an in depth discussion with him when I was in Houston and visited their facility last year), he said that after he and I spoke he looked for his SHO tooling for the billet stator and that they had been thrown out (likely after the Nick Olson situation) and that they would need a starting order of at least 5 to justify the re-tooling. When I spoke with him yesterday he made it sound like they still didn't have the tooling and that it would be 6-8 months before they had the time to re-design and manufacture it. While I have seen scenarios where manufacturers have different tooling for each customer and allow that customer to "own" the tooling so that each supply offering is marginally different, I would imagine if the tooling exists he would have requested us to reach out to Matt to purchase.

Don't want to create any speculation around that, just what I was told yesterday.

Not for nothing but test this one out https://www.atsdiesel.com/ats-heavy...ter-4-bolt-style-2010-2011-ford-3-5l-ecoboost. Just get a 4 bolt flex plate. Also here is a video of what all entails in an ATS torque converter
.

Looking at their site, they do offer a 3-bolt option as well for the newer cars.

I was interested in maybe trying this ATS one out. It’s certainly much cheaper and I believe only about $200 if you supply a core. I hate all the secrecy with GH’s version, and how weird it is that’s it’s not even listed on their site. There’s also now CFM info on the GH IC. I don’t understand why all the secrecy. It’s like ultra rare to not get any specs on what you’re buying. So right off the bat, ATS’ listing and clearly stating what’s included and also the fact that it’s listed on their site…is what makes me wonder….is it basically the same as GH’s? It’s only $400 for ATS with a list of upgrades….while GH’s is what $900 with no internet listing, no specs whatsoever…..like maybe it’s me but I want to know what I’m buying. Or would prefer to anyway.

So I'm currently having issues my my GH TC.. 15k miles on it and it's no good, I've had intermittent shudder from day 1 and recently got 2 codes associated with the TC. P0741, P1744.. my mechanic called me today to tell me my TC is the cause of my issues after swapping the stock one back in.

Very interesting and also sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing that it’s making me even more interested in the ATS TC.

Is this something you're going to get back from your mechanic or remove yourself?
Is there a warranty from GH?
My ultimate question is if there is any type of root cause we can do to see what's up with this thing.

<rant>Not only should you like to know what you're buying but you should have the right. It's flat out bad business AND disappointing. Here....spend a $hitload of money on something that may or may not support your needs and goals of your car; Mind you, this is my opinion. Not saying it's right but hey, it's how I feel. Generally, one would think, if it's a good product you would boast it's capability. Imagine if other things were like that.....Here's your new mustang. It has a REALLY REALLY NICE MOTOR IN IT....but that's all we're gonna tell you. </rant>

While I am on a roll ha ha ha. Not sure what there is for torque converter info out there but we should probably gather all this up for a hopeful sticky at some point. Not sure if the search button works out there for this but....3 bolt vs 4 bolt converters: Do we know the cut off year for each and in what cars? PP, non-PP, 2010 to 12? etc. Thanks in advance!

I'm having my mechanic do the work but after our conversation today I told him to put a new factory TC on move on from the GH part... as far as a warranty from them, I have no idea??? In my experience with aftermarket parts and warranties they never work out well. Once I get the car back I'll reach out to them and see what they say

Yeah, I hear ya....furthermore, it seems as though they aren't very responsive; Unless, of course, you're runnign their tune. Perhaps it would be donation worthy to someone here to cut into if it comes down to it. Either way, sorry to hear of your troubles.
