I have a 96 SHO. Ran fine last night, but when I came out this afternoon to start the car; it started then died immediatly. I have no idea what it is. In the time it does stay running the factory theft light blinks rapidly. I was wondering if a weak battery can cause this. I have had to jump my car the past several mornings, but it is fine the rest of the day.

Your alternator is probably bad which leads to a weak battery.

Start the car, rev the motor up to 1500 rpm and turn on the lights, heater fan (on high) and rear defroster. Voltage should be above 14V.

Car only runs for about 5 seconds, then dies. Giving it gas or not.

I bet if you actually changed up the battery as in over night with a charger it would start and stay running again until the battery was fully discharged. Probably for 30 minutes or so.

You car will not run if the alternator is not putting out juice AND the battery is dead.

Found the problem. There were to gray wires at the steering column that had come apart. Apparently the car must of had a remote start at some point, there was also a transponder near the ignition. thanks for your help.
