Ok, I figured out today that it will run and idle pretty decent if I unplug the MAF. Anyone ever ran into that problem before?

Looks like some awesome progress so far, agreed on the bad MAF causing issues. As these things begins to get older and older they are starting to become much more common.

Sounds awesome! If having trouble idling, would also check the IAC and TB/EGR passages (if equipped).

Thanks! I'll check the IAC but I eliminated the EGR when I rotated the intake. Any way to test the MAF?

Considering you have things eliminated id be checking for the Vacuum leaks just to make sure something didnt seal, these intakes like to leak.

And honestly the easiest sure fire way to check a MAF is to swap it out with a known good one and see if your problem goes away.

Looks like cleaning the MAF did the trick; fires right up and idles smooth now. I sent off for my TWEECER last week and it should be mailed out tomorrow. Just need to get the driveshaft shortened this coming week, wrap up a list of small stuff, and it should be ready to do some road testing by the end of the month.

Will do! I spoke to Mike at Tweecer and I should have it tomorrow as we had some details to nail down. Im picking up the driveshaft today. Weird thing; once I put the air intake on, it started the same problem again. I'm going to put the module on and see how it runs from there. Also, I finished putting the tailpipes on and it's really got a bizzare tone. Doesn't even sound like a car engine, it sounds like a hopped up crotch rocket, but I like it.

It's a shame to run that air intake over the intake manifold like that.

Is there anyway you can get some sound clips? Dual exhaust? It's a sound none of us have probably heard considering how the stock setup is.

Yeah, I just wanted to get it to where it had a cool air source for intake air. I'll put a video up after I get the bugs out of it so you can hear it.

Well, good news, bad news. The good news is I got the chip in, found the idle problem and fixed it (bad TPS) and the car started right up and ran beautifully......for about 20 minutes. All of a sudden it started smoking like a dog and blowing raw oil out the passenger side exhaust.:CRY: Its not missing so Im guessing a broken ring?? Whatever it was, it's got to come back out this weekend. And I was so close.......
At least all the fab work is done so it should just be pulling the motor, fixing it, and dropping it back in. Or getting another SHO motor if something is really broke bad. Ive got too much time invested in the setup and dont want to back up and do something else now.

If this is the first time the engine has run in a long time it might just be a stuck ring. Find out which cylinder by looking at the plugs. pour a couple of ounces of ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil into that cylinder and rotate the crank by hand a few times. Let it set overnight and retry. MMO and ATF are excellent at freeing up stuck stuff.

Tom

I have a extremely low mile 3.0 with a polished intake from the Ford SHOSTAR minivan if you're interested.

I'll try that, Tom, along with a compression test. What are you looking to get out of that motor if it comes down to a worst case?
