Try seeing what your actual kms per gallon is. I know miles/kms per tank is a quick and dirty way to determine mileage but its horrible way for mileage comparsion with others.

Short trips with lots of idle warm ups will **** your mileage. Your averaging 0 mpg while idling and the short trips do little to help bring up the average.

An ATX sucks gas but is really bad in the winter as the fluid takes forever to heat up and hence the torque converter never locks up on those short trips.

Some will disagree, but try letting the car idle for a moment (like 30 seconds) then driving. Remember, no heavy throttle and don't even think about going into the secondaries. It'll help a little.

Also park your car on a slight incline. See if it will roll back when you put in neutral. If not figure on either regreasing the rear caliper slide pins or replacing the rear brake hoses or both. Both are super common problems. Frozen rear brakes on my ATX netted a 3~4 mpg increase alone for me.

to a ? asked earlier. well i went just about to 1/8th tank and then filled up. i remember it costing 26$ to fill up @ 2.19 a gallon.
today i talked to a few people and all of them have similar or same driving habits that i do. none of them were for sure they were losing mpg due to winter. but they said its a possibility, dunno.
friend of mine is gonna scan the car thursday. i will post my findings then
and seripheam,, i will try the things u listed tomorrow.

p.s. only had the car above 4k once. while driving on the highway cruising at 70, i decided to test the tranny that was recently installed. this was at about 90 miles on the first tank. i think i went from 70mph to 95. that was the only time i got into it.
since the roads are icy, the car does a lil spinning of the tires. so the rpms might spike to 3500-4k real quik. other then that, i drive like a granny.

thanks again for all the suggestions

I just searched and found this thread. I've got two SHO, 93 MTX, 150K miles and 95 MTX, 66K miles.

a couple of months ago I drove down south (300 miles without stop) and netted close to 28 MPG, now I can't get either one to yield more than about 14~15 MPG.

As described above, I've got a really short commute (5 miles) and don't drive too aggressively (BS).

I'm heading out for a 1000 mile r/t Christmas trip and will check after that to see how it does.

By the way both cars are running great no CEL new plugs, wires, clutch, etc...

My 92 3.0L would historically run from my house in Missoula, MT to Seattle, WA, 500 miles on one tank of fuel (18.4 gal). That's across two mountain ranges and vast expanses of Montana, Idaho and Washington wastelands (85-90 mph, no cops).

Recently I weasn't able to make more than about 250 miles so I changed the O2's and I'm right back on top.

Two Bosch sensors and one 21mm stubby comb. wrench = $83 and it took longer to lift the car than to find and replace the sensors. Also I noticed some corrosion on the harness prongs of the old ones, so save yourself the hassle and use a little silicon dielectric.

i drive pizza in my sho right now i have 148k and i am am atleast getting 13-14mpg in pittsburgh, and that is about the worst type of driving you can do to a car.(15 to 40 starts and stops and fast driving up and down hills.) i also know i have a major spark issue cause me to run rich and miss all the time so if you are getting no codes and 8mpg i would check your codes in the car and run a cylindar balance and maybe make sure your fuel tank sensor is right are you putting about 13 gallons in a fill up? also make sure your runnign high enough octane fuel. you are supposed to run 91 i run 93 before spark problem i ran atleast 89. i know that some midwestern states run odd octane levels some are still selling 83 and 85 as thier low grade and only sell 87 as mid grade. that could make a big difference.

yeah they dont sell 93 up here, only 91. that is what i am running in it. and its usually high 12/low 13 gallon when i fill up.
i put new 02's in a few days ago, and as of now, no difference. when i put the 02's in i pulled one of the plugs and it was drenched in oil. didnt want to change them at that moment cuz if the mpg had been fixed i wouldnt know if it was plugs or 02's.
so today i am gonna put new plugs ( it has colder plugs in it at the moment, due to guy i bought it from running spray through the car) and see if the rear tires spin easily when jacked up.
