LOWSHO
Okay so The other day I took my 89' to FPS in Mableton, GA for Doug to have a go at tuning it on the Dyno. The results show a very healthy 3.3L with a large restriction in the y-pipe area.
It put down 192.9hp and 207.9tq to the tires.
The mods list is as follows.
3.3L 10.6:1 compression Wiseco pistons in a 3.2L block
3.0L cams in port matched freshly shimmed heads.
Extrude honed intake runners
40mm Big Bore Butterflies
80mm Lincoln MAF
open element conical filter(all we had at the time)
Custom dyno tuned SCT chip by Doug Lewis
Spec stage 2 clutch
heat wrapped restrictive Magnaflow stock replacement Y-pipe
Custom 2.5" mandrel bent single exhaust with magnaflow parts
Doug figured since it was running out of breath after 6k that the Magnaflow replacement Y-pipe was a cork in the larger displacement engines power.
I will either have Doug build me one of his high flow y-pipes to free it up some or have a good exhaust shop make me a 2.25" high flow unit in Texas.
I will also replace the original coilpack with an ACCEL unit and put my extra 8.2 Thundervolt wires on it and check/clean the plugs. The car has soo much pull on the street in any gear because of the torque curve. I asked Doug if he could move the secondary opening lower in the rpm range due to the extra displacement but he wasn't able to do it. The pulls were done in 4th gear like everybody else does.
I will try to find a scanner soo I can post up the dyno sheet so you can see how she runs.
Over all I'm happy with how good she runs and its reliability soo far. I'll clean her up some more and make some subtle improvements to personalize it to my tastes.
Comments and or suggestions?:thankyou:
