Anyone happen to know whether this got a separate part number?

I know the 91-95 clutch only comes as a kit under the Ford system (pressure plate and disc).

Thanks - zak

I'm sure someone will be able to answer with a part number for the 9" disk. I think there was a separate part number for the disk and it can probably still be obtained. Curiosity makes me wonder. Why do you want it?

Have you actually pulled the clutch to see if is a 9-1/4" versus 9-3/4" ? If I remember correctly, there is a service bulletin in reference to upgrading the 9-1/4" clutch assembly with the 9-3/4" kit.

The base number for the clutch disc is -7550- but it's not available separately from ****.

F1DZ-7A537-A on the upgrade kit....plus add the F1DZ-6375-D flywheel if needed....

The whole 89-90 kit(This is a Ford kit...not a parts store kit) can be had for $250. This will save you from buying a flywheel and upgrading to the 9.75 inch kit thats available...if thats your goal?.

My parts guy has 2 kits. PM me I'll give you his number.

The 9.25 clutch disk can hold 500hp without a problem. that is most likley why he's trying to get one.

New here and with a 'new' 90 SHO; and needing to replace the clutch. Was under the impression that the upgrade was strongly advised. But if I understand your post an Ford OEM small/9.25 clutch rebuild kit is available complete for $250? If that would buy me another 40 or 50 thousand miles it may be just the ticket. Thanks

And you won't need to buy a flywheel.

Are you talking about a 9.25 disk with a 9.75 PP? Can you show us the math that proves this is good for 500HP? I'm not questioning it, I just want to understand.

Thanks!

Go with the updated clutch. I don't understand why people get so hung up on these old clutches. There's almost no SHOs on the road that still have the small flywheel.

You can get a new clutch and used 9.75" flywheel (if you need one) for about $250.

Take your VIN number down to the Ford dealer and ask them to run an OASIS report, it is like 95%+ certain you've already been upgraded to the larger flywheel and clutch, unless you found this thing in a barn somewhere with under 30 K miles (the report will tell). The key to getting these clutches to last 50 K+ miles (assuming not pure highway driving), is the release bearing, run a search for "TOB" on here and read. zak

Thank you all for the help. With some more research we (son and I) pulled the starter and the upgraded clutch w flywheel is installed.

Have also ordered the ceramic TOB. Hope that is the way to go.

Did stop at a Ford dealer and was told they can't go back more than 10 years. Oh well.
