I have a 95, 3.0 manual. Had since new. 95k miles, never problem. About a month ago, the crankshaft sensor failed. Yesterday, the camshaft sensor failed...what's the odds of that? Is this normal? Any feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks

Normal? no. But as stated above, at this age everything is on the table. Hopefully it is just a sensor issue and nothing with wiring is involved. Check the cam seal that mates up toward the inside facing part of the cam sensor. Prone to leak and cause failures. The fact you've had it this long is amazing. I've gone through several SHO's in that period of time.

I did install a new water pump with gasket when I installed the new crankshaft sensor.
The water pump is probably what caused the crank sensor to go bad. It would be safe to assume that you now need cam seals as well. That is more than likely what killed your cam sensor. Just a coincidence caused by lack of preventative maintenance.

Valves are adjusted at 60K along with replacing the rubber cam belt?
Still have the original belt?

Love to see a few pictures too! Original owner 1995 car is rare as posted above!

Valves are supposed to be adjusted at 60K, but my experience from working on over 250 of them in the last 25 years is that they really don't nee adjusting until around 120K. The timing belt also is good for 100K miles.

Also: if you are in as far as crankshaft sensor, and cam seals, the crank seal is also on your list, pulling off the timing cog with a puller also.

You don't have to do it unless you are getting oil underneath, ultimately resulting in oil on the catalytic converters making a smoke machine, but the sensors up front, timing belt, and the seals are all "60k replace all to keep the SHO flying" so do it while you're already there and someone is still selling the seal, and not worry about just that one symptom until 20 more years.

Quick question, Chad,
If you wanted to look at the waveform output of the camshaft sensor, which of the 3 outputs of the sensor would you look ar with the scope? Thanks
