Today I called my Progressive agent to see what they'll pay, at 55,000 miles on car and losing the control arm ball joint at 45mph took all the new year joy out of me. It took out the brake line, bent the shock, pulled out the transaxle, sent the wheel up into the fender and destroyed it and the rim. Bummed a cigarette from a bystander and and stood there looking like I was lost.

Since installing my new turbo's, while datalogging for the tune, we found the fuel pressure would get a nasty dip when boost came in quickly. Did order a XTREME-DI XDI-EVO HPF before installing the turbo's back in October but still waiting on it to arrive. So I have been living with relatively low boost and safe tune until then. Decided to order and just installed a new Deatschwerks DW300C lpfp today while waiting on the HPFP to arrive. Just trying to cover all my bases.

Didn't realize how noisy my old fuel pump had gotten until today. I cannot hear the new pump. Maybe because it must have been getting louder over time. Before I would hear it prime when I opened the door, working on the car, etc...

Was concerned the new pump was not working but she starts and runs fine. Just no noise. Hmmm... maybe it was on its way out. Anyone else hear their in tank lpfp ??

That's definitely not the way to get the new year started! Sorry to hear. Hope your insurance covers it.

Have to agree, I sensed the same thing that the DW is pretty quiet over the OEM, I believe a new sock filter helps greatly too.

They called , instead of it being picked up tomorrow to be sent to the shop, there sending an agent to evaluate the damage. Puts bad thoughts in my head that they want to total it with such minor damage.

buy back from total is usually an option if you really don't want it to go. With car values so high maybe not a total though.

Did it yank the cv axle out of the ptu? Any potential damage to ptu or transmission effects the evaluation. Even if they cant see anything externally.

I had that happen to me in February of 2018 in my MX5. Dropped my friend off from a long day trip and went to turn around in his cul de sac and doing probably 5mph or less and car just dead stopped like i ran into a curb or something. Got out to look around the car and didnt see anything. Then did a double take because both front wheels were pointing a different direction.
I dont know what would of happened if it would of broke during the driving day trip…

Sheered it right off the knuckle/spindle. Bottom of the knuckle was inside the rim. No new damage was made lol but still somehow got lucky

Why I'm having them look all around, at first they where just going to send it to a body shop, until I mentioned hey how is it going to body shop on 3 wheels. Yes it yanked the right side completely out, including ripping off the carrier bearing for it. Ripped brake line in 2, they at first were going to cut a check without an eval. Wasnt going for it and end up short changed and possibly bad mechanicals. Found half the control arm ball joint still on knuckle, but broke it right in half. They claimed at first I hit a curb, but officer took pictures of tire streaks starting in the lane I was in, then a sharp veer to the right to show I didn't hit the curb first. It dumped tranny and brake fluid on that side. Only see half of shaft in picture other half was under car.

I don't want to lose it, not with all the time in invested already. She will go ahead and get all new suspension, even if they just replace the front right. I bought it rebuilt and all it needed was a fender hood and bumper and they totalled it at that time, the same side that was damaged in the original accident before I bought it. But they have it insured for 10 more than I paid for it due to increase in car values.

Check the axle to engine mount. If it cracked or broke off the mount on the block then it needs a short block also. Just saw one being replaced at one of my client's dealerships. Crazy something so simple could be so costly.

Referring to the mount for the carrier bearing for the right side axle? Yes it was ripped off, it ripped the axle out of the transmission/PTU, split axle in two. If it is not what your referring to, where do I need to look? I walked away from the car for a day, just to cool down, and went back to also find seal was dislodged from PTU also. Knuckle will also have to be replaced, the mount for the ball joint is cracked on underside. short version the whole right side will need a rebuild. Broke my heart. We build a relationship with our cars, and it's devastating when they get hurt. That and are hands havnt healed yet from all the other work we invest in them. The rim was also the one I replaced just months ago for splitting the rim in two hitting a really bad p o t hole, i might have actually damaged the components with that incident, which months later caused this incident. Had car inspected when rim was replaced last time but couldn't see any fractures in the suspension.
Split rim was from p o t hole, and this time it took a chunk out the the new rim. I'm thinking I've been driving around in a ticking time bomb and what unseen damage I did before came to fruition this time. And to add insult to injury my aquatec pump showed up today , had to laugh at that one though.

Thanks to everyone for showing your support. I'll look at this from a positive and just go ahead and replace all suspension, add the H&R springs , new rotors and pads all the way around. With replacing fender I had plans to have a repaint anyway. So I'm just going to go ahead and start stripping car for body shop. When Progressive gives the greenlight to repair car. If they total it, I'm buying it back. To much time and money already invested to give up now.

SeanDev, I feel your pain on this one. Most people view cars as transportation, but to car guys they’re a part of the family. I’m glad you decided to stick it out and get it back on the road where it belongs.

Best of luck in your endeavor. Keep us posted on your progress.

Used a walnut shell media blaster to clean the back of my intake valves this past week. Decided I would clean them since my car has 112,000 miles on her now. Photo is one of the worst cylinders. Really was not all that bad considering the mileage.

No air/oil separator ever on the car but do have methanol injection maybe the past 20,000 miles.
I just did mine as well. Also not as bad I had expected with 99k miles and 9100 idles hours (PI car). Ford says the engine really has 399,300 miles on it.

I did some finishing today on project that was about 80% done but I was already using. A little porting and smoothing on the outlet pipe on my redneck twin take filter box.

Yes you're seeing what you think you're seeing. Stock air box with two outlets. It stands vertically.

Looks like I'm due for a filter cleaning. LOL

It seems like the 3.5 ecoboost fairs better than many other DI engines I have seen posted online with even less mileage. I feel like mine is idling smoother since cleaning but I replaced my spark plugs at the same time.
