Idk why I’m so butthurt over the fact my 2013 has more stuff to it than the 2019. Only major differences is Apple CarPlay and a sunroof… my 2013 has auto-parallel park, massaging seats, rear sunshade and telescope/electric wheel. These things aren’t needed but are nice to have. Oh well.

This is probably a dumb question, but then why not keep your 2013?

Apple CarPlay and my 13 had a few questionable things I didn’t wanna fix. I’d be dumb happy with a 2018 PP but took what I could and got a great trade in value at dealer I didn’t pass up

CarPlay is as easy as a Sync 3 swap. The best way to keep the options is to get a 2016. Has all the options and CarPlay. Then, depending if you chose PP or non-PP swap in the options of the other one, that you want. The only other option is another 2013.

How hard is the H&R spring install? Did you guys take it to a local mechanic?

You have tools? Springs aren't technically difficult. They aren't fun with compressing it and whatnot. I would recommend power tools and a long afternoon. Take your time and don't let the spring smash you in the face. I launched one in my garage on accident. flew pretty fast and hit the walls pretty hard.

I don’t think I’m capable. I work so much and I don’t exactly have a space to do that stuff nor do I really know what I’m doing. Tools are at a minimum. Just trying to get a sense of how expensive it is to bring somewhere and where to bring it lol. The dealer probably charges a ton but I haven’t checked, but didn’t know if this is something VIP could/would do for me or if that’s a bad idea… I know VIP can be dumb with some stuff but I feel like just putting springs on my car may be okay.

What's VIP? Any person comfortable around cars can do this. It is not a vehicle specific thing, it is not a complicated thing. It will take some time to remove and reassemble parts. Hopefully there is not a bunch of rust. If you're not fighting fasteners life is good.

If you have a favorite shop, chances are pretty good they have a nice, safe, spring compressor. If you're looking to save a few dollars, they may agree to swap springs for you for a few dollars or a couple of 12 packs of beer if you bring in the assemblies and new springs. But that's if you have the collective ability to pull them from the car and haul them to the shop.

Just providing another option.

Labor time calls for 4.9 hours plus an alignment. For a $100/hr labor rate, I am guessing you will be about $700-800. $490 labor, $100 alignment, shop fees, taxes, etc. You will also have to find a shop willing to use your parts and the old struts. If you replace struts and shocks (recommended) you will have another few hundred dollars in the job (2 struts, hats, shocks, etc). All that is provided that all of your steering/suspension is tight and nothing breaks during service.

Labor is the main reason I try to do whatever myself
