So I have been venturing out in the snow for a little bit now and I have came around a corner a little to fast and the front wheels started to turn then slid into a storm drain. I’m posting to ask if there’s a way that we can fully enable the Awd system or a way do delete the clutch based system on the rear differential that decides when it wants to power the rear wheels even if it costs to extend the driveshaft and replace with possibly mustang differential

It’s a 2016 Not sure if it’s a “PP” or not but it has the 20s and is fully loaded with the parking and lane assist with adaptive cruise control

No direct experience however I am sure someone will provide a detailed explanation of our system. The short answer, no from everything I have read in these forums for the last couple of years. Our cars are not like 4 wheel drive for gas efficiency reasons. These AWD systems are for traction control and better safety.

You have found the problem of having a FWD bias system that has the ability to transfer (limited) power to the rear once certain criteria has been met. To "lock" up the viscous coupler to my knowledge really hasn't been discussed. Being an ass backward "AWD" system I don't think there will be much benefit and you will probably wear out parts rather quickly. As for wanting to completely modify the system? There truly is only one way to find honestly.

Since we finally had some real snow on my parking lots, and I choose which ones get cleared when, I have gotten some chances to play in the snow to push limits on the car I haven't yet explored...
I've discovered some of the age-old advanced driver advice for slippage to be useful.
Turn smoothly.
Don't brake.
Downshift.
Accelerate out of the slide (the TC throws the rear wheels into action fast and responsively. You CAN drift very nicely in our cars -in the snow only, probably)
Lots of active steering.

Drive it, and it will show you what you like to see.

I used to get in the car and turn off TC be in manual mode. Let it still slip at the end of first gear and flash ESC light and then after that i had full control of just lighting the wheels up on demand but i had to let the ESC kick in the first time everytime. It would like trick the computer into turning it off. Slid around city streets daily on my way home from working in baltimore by the docks. Enough that the tires had belts showing after a month or so. I would get awd system overheated fwd only mode light all the time and even in 5th gear it would just skate off the road with all the work done to it. All on v11/v13 tune at the time. Now that im on 2nd engine, ptu and rebuilt transmission i just baby it for the past couple years. Not sure if i would get the same results on ajp tune or not. Livernois tune always felt like it could throw the car sideways more back in 2018. But i just baby it now as its a pretty car
