Haha, you want it just to run the engine.......Would putting Haltech in my SHO make a difference?

Lol idk. There’s some seriously stupid torque management nannies that need to go away. But maybe it can be disabled lolHaha, you want it just to run the engine.......
You might be on to something. There are numerous Stand Alones out there. Pro-EFI, Haltech, Fuel Tech, Motec, AEM, ect. Might be something to talk about with Brad.Lol idk. There’s some seriously stupid torque management nannies that need to go away. But maybe it can be disabled lol
I was getting ready to pull the trigger on an AEM setup on mine a few weeks ago...before all that "drama"...so it's on hold for now. I was just going with the CD7, their OBDII adapter and their analog-to-digital CAN module adapter. It all started when I was trying to figure out a way to get my EGT probes logged...Would putting Haltech in my SHO make a difference?
Definitely interested in alternative routes to achieve a goal. If that means a reach around then so be it.I was getting ready to pull the trigger on an AEM setup on mine a few weeks ago...before all that "drama"...so it's on hold for now. I like the CD7 because it has some powerful logging capability, mostly I wanted to be able to log EGTs and be able to overlay it to logs of the current stuff I'm reading with the SCT. This device is way more capable than the SCT.
Now, as far as standalone (or even piggyback) ECUs go, what's nice about this setup is I can always grow into one. The CD7 is able to take inputs from any of the big name ECU boys, but AEM's own product line can be used as well.
I know this didn't answer your question, but I've been going down this road myself. You'll have to identify pretty much every input the factory PCM needs and wire that up to the Haltech, which I'm sure could be possible...I just don't know enough about it.
On the earlier 7m-gte engines, they use a ballast resistor in circuit to batch fire two injectors simultaneously. 3 resistors 6 injectors. Unfortunately I don't recall whether or not the the 1JZ and 2JZ use the same injector wiring system. Also turbo and non turbo Motors use different resistance, resistor packs, if it does turn out to be this. Question is is it a lack of spark or a lack of fuel?Update on the Lexus. I got it a started and running. Sure enough there is a miss. Actually there is two misses. Both cylinder 3 & 4 are missing. However, they are fired by the same coil. If you know anything about waste spark, then you might understand what it happening. I know the car has 140k miles, and I am pretty sure the coils are the originals. So I bought new coils, new plugs, an new wires. I installed them and yep...still missing.

The wiring in the Lexus isn't the best. I pulled and de-loomed the coil wires. Looking to see if anything is broken or out of place. Didn't find anything. However, there is a Haltech Triple Channel Ignitor (JDM thing) that may have failed. So I bought a replacement and when it arrives, I will install and see what happens.

I bolded your statement because I am in the process of learning all of that and figuring that out myself.I was getting ready to pull the trigger on an AEM setup on mine a few weeks ago...before all that "drama"...so it's on hold for now. Gotcha. Is this a wasted spark system? I don't recall what style of ignition 1-2 JZ family uses or the Haltech. It is a spark issue. I have pulled the plugs in the dead holes and they are covered in fuel. So that pretty much narrow's it down. The Haltech runs the engine, and the Stock ECU runs everything else. The signal from the Haltech, goes to a Triple Channel Ignitor, then to the coils. If one channel on the Triple Channel Ignitor goes out, then one of the coils goes out. I am pretty confident that failed or I have some *****'d wiring.
Yep I systematically replaced most common fail parts. Plugs, Coils, and Wires. When that didn't fix the problem, I looked at the wire harness (signal and grounds) from the coils to the triple channel. If the new triple channel doesn't fix the issue, I will check the wiring from the Haltech to the triple channel. If that checks out, then I probably have an ignition driver issue in the Haltech ECU itself. If that is the case I will send it back to Haltech.Gotcha. Is this a wasted spark system? I don't recall what style of ignition 1-2 JZ family uses or the Haltech.
Scratch that I just re-read your response and it's a triple Channel. So either one of the coils is dead or one of the big to3 transistors may have died on the Haltech. Assuming of course that the wiring between the halltech and the coil is okay.
One of the guys on the Isuzu RS Forum board was having trouble with a halltech because of an ignition driver transistor. He was managing 350 horsepower out of a 1.6 L Isuzu motor with a halltech. LOL
Haha, never. I have already had boosted LS motors. It has always been a "want" of mine to have a 2J car. When I am done it will make 600hp to the tire comfortably. Just need fuel pump, injectors, and a new tune.....after I figure the miss out.If that doesn't fix it, then time for an LS swap!!! lol
I was just teasing and the car will be a hoot once you get it sorted out!Haha, never. I have already had boosted LS motors. It has always been a "want" of mine to have a 2J car. Lately I've had the hankering to do a 1UZ build. This looks damn ****, and I just so happen to have all the fixin's for a roadster laying around... https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...9710&set=a.211161082576069&refid=13&__tn__=+>Haha, never. Some day, maybe. Problem is I'm fairly stingy so it's hard for me to buy another engine and trans (would be CD009 btw) when I already have a 350 and TH400 sitting there. I'm in the slow process of consolidating my bigger and fuller garage at my other house into my already crowded 2.5 car at home. Once that's done I can start projecting again, and first order of business is to rebuild my CJ7.That does look damn cool. You should do it.

Yeah I'm subbed to Matt too. I wish there was more videos of idiots in crossovers getting pulled out the bottom of a canyon and whatnot lol. In October I took my truck two-tracking in the U.P. on a whim, man I forgot how much I love being out in the woods. Broke a mirror, bent my step rail, and got hopelessly stuck at 11:00 pm with no chance of escape but I loved every second of it. Felt like a kid again!Yeah I steered away from projects for the past couple of years. It was nice lol. However the Lexus just kept popping up, and for the amount of money I have spent it has been smooth sailing so far. This car is making me learn about JDM life (lol), waste spark, stand alone ecu's, and other things I have not been subjected to building American cars. I kinda want to buy a Jeep and start a build next. Been watching a lot of Matt's Offroad Recovery on Youtube, and it has spurred my interest in that side of motorsports.
