Interesting read with decent user input. The underlying issue is still them dyno products they want to sell.... Need independent results. Then the next issue is stock airbox is.... Better?

The only ones who never believe the results are the guys who spent tons of money on CAIs. Starting intake temps at the filter intake have very little to do with your ending temps at the manifold. The turbos will heat air up to a very high level. The deciding factor in your IATs at your intake manifold is the efficiency of your intercooler. You could have the best Cold Air Intake ever engineered and have similar IATs as a guy with $10 Menards special if their intercoolers are the same.

Dollar for dollar a drop-in is better, but if you have to weight reduce your wallet, buy meth.

Save big money, real big money when you shop Menards!!! I miss that store!!

So after some additional research:

The most optimal intake design to promote the best flow no matter who is fabbing or selling it will have the intake air pressure as high as possible at the air intake filter, while also keeping the intake air temps as low as possible.

The easiest way to achieve this is the stock sealed airbox and an intake air duct connected directly to the front of the front bumper. Anyone can fab their own, it is not rocket science just takes some patience and some cardboard to mock up the dimensions you require the shop to make it to. I currently have this modification completed via a one off carbon fiber piece i made myself, but also have the duct designed out of aluminum if anyone wants on. There are mounting tabs in the newer part version that secure the duct to the front of the plastic radiator core support and line this duct up with the factory duct opening. The images are preliminary but the prototype is on my car working as intended.

So.....isolation from engine heat and positive (ram air) pressure feeding the intake ambient air?

Everything Gale Banks has preached backed by decades and millions of dollars of research?

Yes, the most optimal intake system incorporates those features, however, other systems can still work fairly well but the best system would have the two features you mentioned above. To achieve the higher pressure "ram air" you need a sealed box where pressure is not able to leak out and drop, like the OEM box.

Thanks Roman. You never know unless you design, build and test. Not everyone gets it right and has the best solution on the first attempt either, it does take revisions to fine tune and verify improvements.
