Good braking is important. But you will NOT overheat your brakes doing auto-x. It's one minute at a time, five minutes + between runs, average speed of 40, max speed not over 65-70, and half of your time is spent heeled over in corners, not on the gas or brakes. My 2010 non-pp had extremely underwhelming braking from the factory. Even with the D/S Shitastic Powercrap kit... almost put me into the ticket booth at sumerduck due to brake fade.. I was trapping low 90’s in the 1/8th...
My 2016 PP clearly has better brakes but I am with the OP. A big brake setup with some decent multi *** calipers would be a nice addition..
I really want to AutoX the SHO this year, however, am hesitant to do so with the current brakes along with the power I am putting down. I had brake fade a bit last time at MIR.. sucks.
Look at all the pretty surface cracks from over heating on my power stops....

The ONLY time I have somewhat overheated street pads in autocross is at an event they laughingly call an 'enduro', which is five laps in a row, so 4-5 minutes of full tilt bozo. And a short idle around the parking area let things cool back down.
Yep.
Only time I EVER experienced brake fade, was on the 3rd lap at Limerock. And I drive the shit outa my cars. Used to auto cross every weekend.
Bottom line is, stock, free floating self adjusting calipers do the job, and do it well. Only real advantage of willwood/Baer/brembo is weight savings. Unless you're driving actual road courses.
All,
For those interested I could provide the high strength steel CNC machined adapter brackets and mounting hardware so that the 2013+ SHO's could utilize the following Wilwood Super-Light 4 Big Brake Kit which would work in conjunction with the OEM sized 2013+ 14" front rotors. These brackets would be very similar to the ones i designed and manufactured for Lee with the Wilwood Aero6 calipers. This front brake solution would save approximately 10 lbs per corner over stock front brakes. This kit would utilize the following parts which are listed below that can be purchased directly from Summit Racing online. These brackets would imply bolt onto the existing front knuckle and would require zero cutting or fabrication of any kind. It would be a true bolt on solution and could be easily reversed if the owner wanted to revert back to the stock front brakes.
Benefits of this front brake kit include:
SEP adapter brackets & hardware: $600
- Weight saving of approximately 10 lbs per corner (20lbs total for the front brakes) over the OEM front brake calipers and brackets
- Ability to utilize Wilwood's high quality and easy change brake pads & compounds, BP10 & BP20
- Ability to utilize front stainless braided brake lines which when compared to OEM rubber lines should provide more protection from lines swelling
- Ability to utilize a 4 piston caliper instead of the OEM 2 piston which allows for a more equality distributed clamping force
- Aesthetically the front brakes now have the big brake look that a lot of car enthusiasts prefer
Wilwood components required: $626
Total: $1226

Ok i have a few questions and then I would like an invoice or something to pay for the brackets.
1. I want to go with the caliper that has the 5.18 piston area. Will that cause any problems? Like maybe pedal problems?
2. My 2011 has the exact same knuckle as the 2013+? Right?
3.If I wanted a bracket for the Aero4 calipers, is that available?
4.Are the aero calipers (noticeably) better?
5.do you have any brackets for the rear? I'm considering just putting the 2013+ brakes on the rear.
6. Are there any 2 piece 14" rotors that will work with these brackets?
I believe he said that at $450 it's a wash for him, no money made. People have to get paid for their time. The brackets were $400 originally that didn't sell either. What made them jump to $600? Are they titanium now?
Yes exactly, what he said Jordan. The $400 price was an order of 14 brackets sets. Even then my profit wasn’t much. With just making 1 set here and there the machine shop charges quite a bit more for material as I’m not using an entire bar and also the machine setup time is more expensive.I believe he said that at $450 it's a wash for him, no money made. People have to get paid for their time.
Electric motors from the mach-e??I would be all over the Super-Light 4 set up if I wasn't dumping money into a "top secret" power adder for the platform.
I get that but also the intercooler piping was $400 originally now it's $400 for the group buy lol. Sounds like need to get another machine shop to make the brackets because same materials brackets would cost $100 a set tops. I get your time is worth something but this doesn't add up to anything other than greed or somebody is ******* him on costI believe he said that at $450 it's a wash for him, no money made. I appreciate your insight Jordan but I highly disagree with cnc machined brackets out of high strength steel that have passed an FEA and were designed in CAD being $100 sale price a set. I will buy the ones your selling ASAP because that’s the deal of a lifetime.I get that but also the intercooler piping was $400 originally now it's $400 for the group buy lol. just watching donut media YouTube vids and making wild guesses lol........ Who the f**k you been talking to?
$100 cost as in you're making $500 over machining cost. Like I said you're getting destroyed on pricing or being greedy. If these were so special I would had just gotten in on the free set you offered me, but it's a caliper swap not a big brake kit.I appreciate your insight Jordan but I highly disagree with cnc machined brackets out of high strength steel that have passed an FEA and were designed in CAD being $100 sale price a set. Jordan if it’s so affordable sell me the ones you’ve designed and manufactured because I would really like to sit back and stop trying to innovate improvements for the platform with my career related skillset and have someone such as yourself just do it all for me for practically free.$100 cost as in you're making $500 over machining cost. I'm just saying while you're offering a product not many others are you're destroying anybody trying it because of cost. It's just not worth that much.
