Could you maybe offer some insight on how you engineered the bracket? I am open to paying big bucks for some brackets if I can get into some big brakes for less than the $2,500 that TCE wants for their front kit. However I think it would probably be better if I just fabricate a couple one-off brackets for my own build.

I went to a 4 year university for mechanical engineering technology and have 5 years in engineering and design experience. The brackets were designed in solid works and a finite element analysis was performed on the final design to verify they would be safe for my personal and also public use.

You realize that almost everything weighs over 4000 lbs in the automotive industry?

Chargers, challengers, camaros, mustangs, Mercedes, audi, BMW, and that's actual sports cars...but if you look at luxury 4door sedans... Which is where I think the SHO is designed to fit... It is right where it should be.

If you wanted a vehicle for extreme driving... You wouldn't mod the lawnmower... Or would you?

That sounds cool. What is a finite element analysis? Would you sell the file/blueprint/dimensions so that I can replicate your bracket?

I truly want to know where you are going to need all of this stopping power here in PHX? My set up with the stock calipers works fine and I have been in some pretty hairy situations. Quite a few high speed pulls with some spirited braking along the way.

Unless you are a 600 hp SHO (did you buy the Unicorn from BMR?) you are going to be disappointed if you think a modded SHO would be a great roll car for the 60-130-60 you mentioned.

Ansys, and unfortunately no I am not interested in selling my 3D models, calculations, or machining drawings as they are proprietary information and belong to Schwartz Engineered Performance LLC. I can sell you the adapter brackets required for the kit as I did Lee and give you the list of required part numbers.

My 2010 non-pp had extremely underwhelming braking from the factory. Even with the D/S Shitastic Powercrap kit... almost put me into the ticket booth at sumerduck due to brake fade.. I was trapping low 90’s in the 1/8th...

My 2016 PP clearly has better brakes but I am with the OP. A big brake setup with some decent multi *** calipers would be a nice addition..

I really want to AutoX the SHO this year, however, am hesitant to do so with the current brakes along with the power I am putting down. I had brake fade a bit last time at MIR.. sucks.

In the back of my mind as I read this I'm reminded that a much younger version of myself had a big block 67 Camaro that crossed the line at 11.01, 131mph with 4 wheel drum brakes, mono leaf rear springs, and 31" tall slicks....to be young and dumb again!

I can’t speak for the ‘13+, but I agree the ‘12 and under brakes suck. My ‘12 MKS inspires no confidence when braking and when I do, it requires more effort than it should, IMO. My wife’s ‘15 Honda CR-V will make you eat the dash with little effort.

I have no mods to the car whatsoever and I smoke the brakes if I start getting on it. Maybe we just have different driving styles. The bottom line is that I like the taurus and I want it to perform better. If stock brakes stop you every time than I am happy for you and your bank account.

Ok, can you tell me which calipers work with the bracket? I am shopping them right now and I'm curious about the piston area as well as the cost. Maybe you can fill in the blanks for me. Does the piston area on your set up or the tce kit increase the piston area? The 2013+ brakes have an area of (i believe) 3.75in. I've been led to believe that more piston area is better but I can't find info on whether our master cylinder can handle more piston area.

Nope, check the carfax buddy.

Wilwood kit saves a nice amount of weight. Remember, the rotors are 2-piece design, with the hats being billet aluminum.

What's interesting is, I was chatting with some guy overseas on IG that managed to fit BMW X5M 16" rotors on his XSport (at least that's where he said he sourced them). And used the Brembos off it. The XSport and the SHO share the same rotors, btw. I saw the pic, but who knows...lol. Let me see if I can find that photo...

EDIT: Found em...I don't have many details on how they got it to work.

No, I meant the SHO has the same rotors as the XSport, not the BMW...which tells me if somebody got them to fit on an XSport..it MAY fit on a SHO...

I probably need to go retype that because I can see how it looks like I meant that...

I have upgraded rotors with stock PP pads. I am pretty modded and my brakes comply well. Make no mistake about it, I am coming down quickly from triple digits as well quite a bit every weekend. While you are trying to figure this out, I would suggest going to Ford and getting a pair of stock PP pads for your Taurus....you might be pleasantly surprised.

I also have the OEM PP pads front and rear. The PP front pads are made by Brembo and work extremely well.
