Does anyone have a video of the rear seat removal in a 13+ SHO?

Its actually pretty easy. Gotta unplug seat heater too.
If you remove bottom part. The backs can also lay more flat so its like a full bed back there except for the inbetween tunnel that's more narrow for a couple inches.
I have mine in and out all the time ;)

No bolts, just pull it out and unplug seat heaters?

I have a few cars that can do it but what u can remember from the sho without looking at it. Pull up loops on the back of the bottom, shoved down in the 90 degree corner. Then shove seatbelts through the seat. Pull up on the back and the front should come off. Then unplug I think just one connector. Hope I'm thinking of the right car. Ill find a writeup for it. Ill also do a quick write up now that I'm home with pictures.

Ok let's do this in a tranny thread, I'm game.

Step 1, find car. Mines very dirty in a garage and hasn't been driven since who knows when.

Ok looking at back seat, that's where my dag gum ratchet strap went.

Under the front part on the middle of both driver side rear and passenger side rear are little plastic slide clip things. Push them to the side while pulling up the front. Do the same on the other side

Hard to see but the front is jacked up a bit from it being unhooked. This is good.

Tricky part for first time. With front unlatched, push seat to the back while picking up on the back and it will unlatch the back. Do to the other side the same

20200917 160503

Then pick up on the whole seat and tilt it forward. Remember to shove the seat belts down through it. My 15 has 3 plugs. Big one and 2 small green connectors hidden in the sides of the back part of the seat

20200917 160526

Unplug the 3 plugs. They were actually simple for connectors

And then nice clean leather seat can come right out and on a dirty garage floor.

And then clean up a little bit while its out and find some missing stuff and then you got weight reduction.

20200917 160644

Back parts can fold down nearly flat, I didn't because I'm young and dumb but put something down so the metal dosnt mess up or tear the leather backs. Remove the headrests if you'd like. Back seats also unbolt from the bottom that you can see now when looking under them

And except for the tunnel having a narrow hole it should help a bit for holding more cargo

Thanks!

Anyone know how much the backseat weighs? Probably get more reduction with the passenger seat I'm guessing but that seems a little more tricky.

I can stand on a scale while holding it if you want.

As the OP I want you to know that this wild tangent does NOT bother me in the least. All knowledge shared, when accurate and appropriately given, is good knowledge.

That being said, can the moderators pare this down and sticky it to the Maintenance section?

No one is going to come to a “transmission upgrade” thread to find out how their back seat comes out.

With the gyms being closed for pretty much most of the year, I was usually a buff 210-220. Now I'm a ripped 185 and actually not liking it. But this is the weight comparison holding the back seat.

Holding back seat.

I want to say the rear seat backs were 35 ish pounds. I don't remember but it was less than I was expecting. Front passenger seat is the biggest bang for the buck, it weighs around 65 and comes out super easy. Using an impact I have the passenger seat out I maybe 5 minutes tops. Used to take a bit longer with a hand ratchet.

I didn't need to know that. Guess I will take an impact with me to the track if I run a 12.00....lol.

I believe it's 13 mm if memory serves me right. I would disconnect the plug under the seat once or twice at home just so it comes off smoothly if you do need to do it at the track. The first time I disconnected it wasn't the smoothest. Flat blade screwdriver will be your best friend for that and the covers over the four seat bolts. Also want to raise the seat back to either straight up or leaning slightly forward, that makes it a bit easier to angle the entire seat out the door opening.

I mean if you want to pull glass to save weight, the back quarter glass on the rear doors is just a waste of weight. Pull them and replace them with a carbon plug.

It's like going to YouTube to look for a video on how to get your rotors off and next thing you know you're watching x games videos of guys doing double back flips on motorcycles.
