figured i might as well slap a turbo charger to this motor as well on my rwd fairlane project. Now i know someone who has a low mileage stock turbo charger from a grand national for cheap. figured it would be a good fit for the sho. I dont plan on running more then 8-10 lbs. what do you guys think?

I don't know exactly what I have in The Other Woman, other than a ton of money, but it is a tubonetics T3/T4 hybrid. It is still a bushing shaft turbo but it spools quickly and get 300 hp and 300 lb*ft to the ground on race gas and a very conservative SuperChips tune and an 8 lb spring on the waste gate.

On that GN turbo you might find that it comes on the pipe a little early but will run out of steam near 6,000 rpms. Either way, boost on an SHO motor is extremely addicting, so be prepared to go looking for even more boost.

I say go for it. Intercool or spray water/methanol to cool the charge and make sure the exhaust is free flowing.

im hoping for about 300 hp 300tq...exhaust will probably be 3" all the way back. i am not really looking to get crazy with hp b/c this is just a show/cruiser..might take it to a test and tune just to see how it does

FWIW, unless you already have the 3" exhaust, no need to spend money building it. Less expensive for 2.5", less weight, and will flow plenty for what you desire. My 3" handled 430whp with no ill effects, on a 2.5" downpipe.

thanks tool man, 2.5 would fit better under the car anyway. i'm not in any rush, so ill pobably just hold out on a good t3/t4..and since the motor is out and everything might just go ahead and build the motor for boost.

That looks to be only slightly larger than the CT-26 I'm planning to use on mine, and the CT-26 was originally on a 3.0. It might be a bit big, but for $150 that's a nice turbo.

T4 is only the size of the inlet of the exhaust ******. What's more important is the intake/exhaust a/r's and compressor and turbine wheel sizes.

You really shouldn't cheap out on a turbo. It's the main component in the system and if it fails, you will end up having to replace it anyways.

I dont have the car done yet need acouple little things. Im running a bulls eye performance t3 .70 a/r on my 1999 sohc 2.3 ranger and turbo lag to me isnt that bad. But im also running a h1c 60mm turbo. So i figure the hy35 with its 9cm hotside shouldnt be to terrible as its a t3 not a bigger t4 which would lag more even if it was the same a/r.

A GNX turbo is the biggest one fitted to a stock gasoline powered vehicle(iirc), but IDK how well it would work with a sho.....I just helped install one on a 88 mx6gt and the hot side seemed remarkably small(fast spool but the sho engine might outflow it)

FWIW, I'm the idiot thinking a 7mgte's(3L mk3 supra) ct26 belongs on a high cfm flowing 1.8L 4 cyl. I might hit full boost by 4k
