Gotta rework the front suspension too, as the Taurus is a rear steer car, for lack of a better term. You'd have a steering rack going through your clutch.

The way I look at it my car is as far into a Taurus as I plan to travel.
Beyond a low boost setup, like Ron said its a fools game.
Some could make a valid argument that venturing into boosting a SHO at all is a fools game and honestly they have a point.
When I get bored or just worn out with this car I am moving on to something else.
Hacking up this car further to try and make RWD or shoehorn some other transmission under the hood is a task I'll never venture into.

I you are really willing to put cash and time into a SHO and you want it to be bullet proof go RWD like kevinspann said.

I would go with a Tremec T-56, there is a company that makes one with upgraded internal meant for high revving applications.

Off the top of my head here's the work involved.

-Custom motor mounts
-Raising and reversing (180 degree rotation) the intake
-custom adapter plate
-rewiring the wiring harness
-custom exhaust
-custom clutch set up
-custom tranny mounts
-cutting the center tunnel out and enlarging it.
-either a custom fuel tank or a fuel cell
-completely customizing the rear end suspension

That list could go on BUT if you have the time and space and proper tools to do moderate metal fabrication/weld it is all a realizable dream.

As you can see I've also considered a RWD set up. There are a lot of unknowns at this point. You'll probably have to cut out a chunk of the firewall too to create space to properly mount a transmission.

That is the only way to truly "bullet proof" the drive-train in a SHO.

if you wanted to stay fwd there are a couple HD gearsets floating around as well as options for racing axles too.

The owner's won't sell the HD gearsets even if you offer them the current going rate, I think its better I didn't get one, my route gives you better characteristics and it is stronger than the HD gearset.

This is where you are replacing the internals with ones from a stronger trans right? Get to it!!! :naughty:

In all seriousness I think trans project could end up great. Im betting its a ton of work to develope though.

A RWD setup seems like a lot of work. This a little bit (okay a lot) over my head, but would be very impressive to see. A G-Force would be bad **** to use in a RWD setup.
