I only made 3 passes and the first one the car shut down due to what I believe was the excess tire spin (scary, let me tell you) the other two were 12.22 and a 12.13 at 117.
AIN'T that the truth!

:thankyou: Think this is partly due to our HP and the Conti DW's getting hard when the weather turns cold.
That happened to me 9 of 12 runs, in early Oct and I tried everything, including as minimal power braking as I could muster....
Only thing that worked was to attempt a short burnout after going thru water pit which warmed up the tires. It worked about 1/2 the time and resulted in 3 non-shut down runs. That's when I got my 12.901 at 106.85 mph. I had also de-tuned the car back to Torrie's (my exclusive) BAP #1, down from BAP#5. Unfortunately due to AWD, box burnouts make the car move foreward PDQ!:woo-hoo:
After conferring with Torrie and others, the solution I am going to try (soon) is to get some Nitto 05A Drag Radials in 285-40-18 size which match my 18" -255-45 Conti's (almost exactly 27" tall), and run them on some 18 x 9" wheels. Trying to decide if I want to go cheap with Replica's or expensive with your TSW Interlagos. Another thing we are going to try is to back off the boost slightly and add a couple more degrees of advance. My boost is really high at times, but very peaky, simply because the turbo's can't supply that boost consistently due to their small size.
In a way, I'm glad you had this happen, as it has been happening to me all the time up north this summer, even when testing tunes. Certainly don't wish this on anyone, but at least it confirms that I am not alone......

Believe there are other reasons besides cool temps, like older asphalt, that is not as hot as the new-smooth-black FL surfaces I was testing on. I have also added straight methanol to the WW tank, which was likely about a 75/25 mix on that best run. What I was concerned about is that the rear clutches in my AWD system may be getting weak because of the WOT runs and the HP being developed. Hopefully that isn't the case.
I also think that this proves that a stall converter may not work. Until there is a way to strengthen the torque input of the rear AWD clutches, a 2,800 or higher launch will only make the car shut down sooner in my opinion.
In a couple runs where I purposely left the pedal to the metal after shutdown, it slowed the Flex by about .3-.4 but had less than 1 mph difference.
