I don't know if my issue is similiar to yours or not, but my car is surging sometimes when gets hot. I even noticed 3 times I lost tachometer, but can't say for sure if it was after re-starting the car or even when driving. No check engine light on, but sometimes happens while driving. Today was sitting in the parking lot and idle started jumping. I turned the car off and re-started it and it went away.
Don't even know where to start.

I ordered up another Can sensor... this time from Napa. (way more expensive then Rockauto)

I did notice the car idled fine w/ can sensor unplugged but immediately "surged" when plugged back in.

Will report when I have a chance to install.

When it starts surging, pop the hood and try wriggling the wired leading into the cam sensor. If that doesn't do anything, try wriggling the wires leading into the dis.
I took a long road trip a couple summers ago and my car would occasionally act-up... surging & bucking. Just wriggled the wires and viola, back to the fast lane!

Ohhhh, am I just an idiot???????

Popped in the new Delphi cam sensor - drives perfectly!

WOW.

Hope it lasts...only drove a few miles so far.

I just noticed that I wrote on the box of the BW cam sensor that I installed in March of this year.- "lifetime warrantee" - It only lasted a few months. Another BW didn't from a few weeks ago work out of the box.

Thanks for all the input and lessons. Looks like I have a back-up PCM. Cool.

I can't say the wife is as happy as I was driving the car home last night! haha - told her it's got at least another 150,000 miles to go.

I’m having the exact same intermittent issue..... but after replacing the coil pack it has yet to come back. Coincidence or can the coil do the same ? when I replaced the coil I also removed the DIS and cleaned the connections and the surfaces where it mounts to the crossover tube
