That is likely what I need, to sit in a car with a quality system. I have been in a lot of cars with systems, but it always seemed like there was too much bass to sound good. I like a nice crisp / clear sound and not really about making the whole car thump.
Finish your system Black1271....I want to hear how it sounds. ;)

Thats because you are sitting in ghetto thumpers with two kicker 15 inch subs just made to rattle panels off the car. I wish you were up in NY, we share the same taste in music quality.

I wish I was there also. You could give me a listen to your system and a ride in the red car. :)

Yes of course, I would never want to lose my beloved Sync navi.

So you're using an inline converter? Which speakers is it connected to? I have been getting the audio upgrade bug, and a good friend of mine is the manager in the car audio department at Best Buy. He does great custom box work but I might work on the interior speakers first. I just want a little cleaner highs and some more bass.

Yes, hi/lo converters.

If you are cheap/lazy like me and want to do something to improve the sound, check out this thread I found. Basically discusses settings such as SCV. I use it and it sounds better than it did. Not great like I am sure these aftermarket systems do or will but, if you want to adjust what you have this may provide inspiration:

Alright well, I took apart the whole rearend of my car today and still cant find it.:frantic: Tracing the wires, it goes and ties into the "bulk cable" that leads to the back of the car from the front (the same one that all the other wires for the amp i do have goto) on the drivers side. I took from the front seats back to all sheet metal (except for the bottom of the rear seats) and it is not there. So they had to have moved it to the front somewhere is what im thinking now. Maybe TaurusBuilder can help us out in this search?

Just tap it from the two stock subs.

Is there any updates on this? Do you think the sub amp got changed from 2010 to 2011? I noticed immediately that the bottom end of the system in my 2010 was better than the 2011. I am wondering if that sub amp was removed. I have yet to tear my trunk apart looking for it, but plan to start my system upgrade shortly.

Way2evil... what speakers did you hook the hi/lo line converter to? Did you connect them to outputs from the amp? Or pre-amp?

Thanks!!!

i have a 2010 and i think my stock stuff sounds great.... good lows.

I have done a lot of custom stuff in the past but i dont plan to do any audio upgrades on this car for a long time.. even then maybe just a sub or replace the factory "subs" with something a little more dynamic.. nothing too serious though.

here's part of that thread. . .

To get the best sound with the fullest sound range I use the following settings:

First and foremost: The Speed compensated volume (SCV) setting is set to max, 7 in my case. This made the biggest difference. It automatically increases the volume without hitting the Sony cutoff point. I like a lot of bass and this pretty much resulted in a night and day difference once I turned this option on and maxed it out. The volume is basically doubled without sound degradation.

Bass: Two down from the top
Treble: Two down from the top

DSP: Stereo. Surround sound option is pointless unless you are watching a movie?

With these settings, the Sony system sounds more like an aftermarket system than the crummy stock system it's default system has it set out to be.

It should be noted that these settings are for people who prefer louder music. I don't even have to turn the volume up past half way. I know the original poster only had the bass and treble at pretty much zero, but the SCV setting should really make a difference no matter what your other settings are.

Yeah I was wondering also. Going to start hooking everything up this weekend. On top of that question, do they wires connected to the "stock subs" share the same color pre-amp or do they change? I've got my trunk tore apart, but I wasn't doing anything except running a remote. I haven't ripped that "loom" crap off yet, but when I do I guess I'll find out if they share the same color.
