Valve to piston clearance?

Hello, is not possible to bump the engine over with the timing belt removed??* I was concerned about piston and valve crashing together. Im trying to remove crank bolt.** timing belt was cut off with knife.* Thanks for help.94 atx

no there is not a issue with clearance it will be fine just make sure you line everything back up the right way

The V6 SHO engine is non-interference. You can spin that crank around all day with the timing belt disconnected, and you'll just tire yourself out.

That's why timing belt replacements are "recommended" instead of "required" - having one break on you is annoying, and will put you on the side of the road, but all you have to do is replace and re-time (just line all the dots up and you're golden) and you're right back on the road.

It was designed as a non-interference engine, but I have found on two occasions that carbon buildup on the pistons makes the SHO engine an interference configuration. I have even bent an intake valve on an engine I worked on by turning the damper by hand with the timing belt off. My engine, with its many miles of name-brand gasolines, has become an interference engine. I felt the piston touch the valve while gently turning the crank damper by hand. I was suspicious that it could touch after my earlier mistake.

Do not risk the damage to the valves. Install a timing belt in correct position before turning the crankshaft.
