Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the TwEECer software works with the QH.

Correct, you need to have a TwEECer in-hand to use this method of converting .ccf to .beb. BE is the only software that works with both the TwEECer and QH.

As a support feature for strategy purchasers I will offer to convert folks CCF to B.E. format nc.

That's very generous, and the only way I can think of using a previous .ccf tune with your Quarterhorse (QH), if you don't have a TwEECer in-hand.

FYI, if anyone hasn't mentioned it, Adam can hook you up with a QH as well.

Ok....

So, If you have a TwEECer, You can discard using Calcon and Caledit and just use Binary Editor for the Tunes...Correct?

Where does Quarter Horse come in to play?

Yes, we recommend that, it's a better user experience than CalEdit for a number of reasons. The only reason to use CalEdit is to convert a previous .ccf tune to a .beb (Binary Editor or BE) tune so you can continue your work.

It's an alternate piece of hardware to the TwEECer - offers datalogging, but just not as polished on the hardware side of it. We have not yet reviewed it in action. BE supports both the TwEECer and QH hardware.

Josh, where do you see the QH not being as polished? I can data log everything at once with it and it supposedly has less overhead than the TwEECer. I haven't played with it enough to sway either way yet, but I don't dislike the unit yet. I can say that unles you're a maroon like me, if you have a TwEECer, there's really not anything to gain by changing to the QH as they both get the job done quite well.

I just took the time, did what jason said and manually entered all the points from the caledit file for the lincoln mark viii 80mm maf.

Here it is for anyone who needs it....

Edit: Jason i know how to watch it while its datalogging but couldnt figure out how to play it back. Im having an issue at 10psi and cannot look anywhere but the road at that power level.

It's a bare, unprotected board that needs to be installed inside the EEC case, i.e. the EEC has to be removed and dissasembled to install the Quarterhorse. The TwEECer is housed in a casing, and plugs into the back of the EEC, i.e. it's pretty close to plug and play, no need to screwdriver the EEC.

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it doesn't look as polished as a TwEECer. I also haven't had a chance to sample the benefits, so perhaps they outweigh the slightly-more-difficut install, I just don't know yet. :)

That's true, but I have had to open each of the ECUs I've installed my TwEECer on too, since it's really hard to do a really good job of cleaning all the goop off the J3 connector with the ECU case on... So in my opinion, it's a wash in that respect.

Wow, I've never had to open a case, though I will admit to removing the EEC for a permanent install so I can shim and tape the TwEECer to the outside of the case ... ;)

If I'm not mistaken, the TwEECer install instructions PDF actually suggests that you open the case to clean off the connector really well.

Ah yes, here it is, in the "Getting Started Guide" PDF:
"Rarely have I had to do more than wipe the white grease from the service port (EEC-IV) or scrape off the thick clear rubber coating using a razor blade & then a scotch brite pad (EEC-V). The process is much easier if the case is removed entirely. Use a 7/32” socket on 94 and up cases and a Torx head driver on 93 and earlier.
I was just following instructions.

Not saying that it's not necessary ... just that I haven't had to do it to get good results. :)

Alright Adam, got the DataQ hooked up, E-mailed Clint about transferring the BE license. Hope to get this straightened out so we can get to datalogging!

Adam just sent me some additional software. Did you have to register EA to watch a datalog? I really dont want to spend another 80 to watch my datalogs. I tried opening my log in an unregistered EA with no luck.

EA is required to view datalogs on a replay screen. EA is also required to analyze the logs, which is where it's really at - viewing the logs is really just a curiosity.

The native datalog format for BE is .csv, so you can view them with Excel if you want to look at the data yourself before you get a chance to register EA. EA is, like BE, well worth the money - it really streamlines the tuning process by using real feedback and analysis and tuning input.

I haven't used EA in about 5 years or so. I got a new laptop and never went through the process of getting it registered again. As far as data logging, as Josh said, you can open them up in Excel and view them. This is actually more helpful than watching a "replay". I make graphs out if the logs all the time which proves helpful.
