big hose is connected as is the ground strap, maf and iac are connected, but i did notice a hose between the iac and the throttle body that goes to a cylindrical device that has a two wire connection to it that had some cracks which i'll replace when i replace the gasket tomorrow. that hose is on top of the intake and drops down the front of the engine.

K-dawg, the dis pack is damaged on the firewall side as in the connector is broken on the pack but the pins look good. I will take it off and clean it tho. does it need thermal compound? I can use arctic silver if i have too.

That small hose goes to the charcoal canister purge solenoid. Sure you got the spark plug wires correct?

When I did an upper 60k on my SHO a few weeks ago I had the same problem. I checked for Vac. leaks and even checked to make sure I seated the intake correctly. It ended up being the IAC even though it was fine before the upper 60k. The only thing I can think of that happenend was that I gunked it up from cleaning the intake because I didn't remove the IAC when I removed and cleaned the intake. You can try removing the IAC and cleaning it, however it didn't work for me, I had to replace it.

I triple checked the plug wires before i reinstalled the intake. It will idle until it starts warming up, but not steady. the RPMs vary between about 750 and 1500 while it's cold.

since I have to work tonight, i will check this thread later after I wake up.

The rear intake support on the passenger side needs to be there it it a ground path and that is where a ground wire should have been connected.

They are not that hard or time consuming to remove, I would just leave them all on there.

i have the ground strap solidly connected without the support. you can connect the ground strap to any point on the engine that has a good contact to metal, not just that one point.

It is broken because your front motor mount is shot. You should look into replacing that, if you haven't already.

Yes, it requires thermal compound. AS5 will work nicely for it, though a tube of radio shack thermal compound will work just as well.

It should be grounded to the intake manifold, so that the DIS has a solid ground.

Bill Bill Bill,

What am I going to do with you? Without the crossover tube support (not the same as the plenum surge tank supports) brackets installed, there is no way for the crossover tube to be grounded. The crossover tube MUST be grounded AND the DIS must be grounded to the crossover tube by way of its 4 mounting screws. There is no need to ground the snakes, they are grounded through the heads and block which is grounded through the black ground wire attached to the V of the block, next to the knock sensor. It would be better (if you don't want to put the crossover tube brackets) to run that flat ground strap to the crossover's mounting hole that is 2" to the left in that pic.

Grounding is very important on these engines.

I Know!!
& on that first pic of the stock intake the red wire you see is also a ground just for the DIS on that intake. On the polished crossover I cut off the mounts!

ORLY??? funny, cuz my ground strap's been bolted to the rear head without the support attached for about as long as I can remember, and I can assure you my car runs just fantastic.

new dude...that rear part of the DIS is broke cuz your subframe bushings have gone to ***. To confirm, pop the hood, start the engine and while watching between the hood and the cowl, turn the wheel from lock to lock. See how the engine moves dramatically from side to side? That's not a good thing. replace your subframe bushings and then replace your DIS module, grease it, and it should be golden.

seems I can only find the front bushings listed anywhere. are the front and back the same?

also the plastic on the dis was pretty brittle as it basically crumbled when the plug was removed.

I plan on replacing the bushings as the leak from the rear valve cover was pretty bad and flowed down the back of the engine and got everywhere.
