give it time....there is no specific mileage when the cams will fail, i have heard of them failing at 25,000 miles and 250,000 miles, and everything in between.

WOW. Better keep this quiet. If Ford finds out they could use his car to prove "there is nothing wrong with the cams";)

i think the only real reason that it lasted this long was the simple fact that he doent dog his car and run it to the ground like i know some of us tend to do weather it would be us young folk or the older crowd, he just gets on it very seldomly to hear the v8 rumble though the flowmasters hes got um on both of his cars

The cams don't know how you run it, whether you are a pussyfoot or a leadfoot. The load on the cams is the same.

He's just been a lucky m****rf****r so far. But, his day is coming.

Oh, and the "older crowd" pounds their SHOs harder than you young punks.

I picked up one that had 192k on it when the cam failed. They are time bombs with random timers. Welding a 238k car still makes sense if everything else on it is good. Once a cam goes, they become the proverbial lawn ornament.

unlike what camfailure com says, not every car will fail. But who wants to find out and ruin a motor?

The scare tactic of turn them off now and weld them is finally over, there are cars that wont die, it doesnt matter how many miles or how you drive. but its like gambeling, you might be winning but that odds at some point that your lucky streak will be broken.

Of course, since it is not possible to prove a negative, that is you cannot prove that something will not occur, the above is conjecture, though I also suspect it to be correct, if you keep in mind that eventually other things stop the car from being used and that could simply happen prior to the sprocket spinning on the splines. But that can never be more than a suspicion, from a pure logic standpoint.

i beg to differ on that just a little bit, considering that im 19 have a 220 hp 7000 rpm reving taurus with a 5 speed which makes for the best combination in my book for the simple fact that on almost a daily bases it sees revs of close to 6500 rmp if not more.

so how would be be that the older crowd would drive their shos any harder then i do, or any of the younger folk if any of the youngins drive like i do that is.

Whoa, 6500, that's almost the redline! Look at you, flirting with danger!

FWIW, Ron probably has more track time in a SHO than you have behind the wheel, period. In fact, for the most part, none of the older guys here baby their cars, myself included, and most of us have varying amounts of track time in our SHO's as well.

:angelnot: Like you qualify as the "older crowd".........

As for the luck thing, talk to LJRuddy.. Hes WELDED 3 cank bolts, has a "fapping" noise and beats the shit out of his sho and has like 180k on it. Mine, i baby it, get on it every now and then to hear the secondaries, and i have shit breaking all the damn time....

I still say weld um up!

You're right, driving like a ******* around your neighborhood is much harder on a car than running the track :laugh_ti:

You want to romp your show, bring it to the track, **** Ron would even likely volunteer to show you how ;)
