rear brake repair issue

Hi guys, I just had to replace a rotor and pads today...I had the frozen caliper pins cause things to wear out fast....
The problem is the piston won't screw back in. I have the right tool to rotate it, and it turns, but won't catch on the adjuster threads I guess. It is way out probably as far as it can go. Any way I can get this to go back in without disassembly?

Stupid question I know but did you try pushing the piston back into the caliper with the bleeder screw open?

sry i didn't get back to you, but the problem has been fixed. and no i didn't know i had to open the bleeder valve to screw the piston back in due to the proportioning valve. thanks for the help!!

k new problem with the same driver side rear break. when i bleeding the rear breaks i noticed the spring for the proportioning valve was completely inactive. didn't think much about it i just hoped that the thing failed open. ya WRONG!!! my rear break is sticking like crazy. what is going on do i need to get a new proportioning valve?

The flexible line for the rear brake on the Taurus has a design flaw, at the metal bracket where it gets held out of the way, the hose gets squished by corrosion (er sumpthin) and this condition allows the fluid to move through under the pedal load but the calipre won't unload and so it sticks.

Replace the flex lione with Stainless aftermarket of OE (~same price) and see if that solves your problem.

i noticed this...my passenger side rear break has the metal bracket thing removed the brake line is being held in place by a zip tie. could i just cut the metal bracket away???? wouldn't that in theory work?

well i cut that bracket off, but the rear driver side break is still sticking. is my only option replacing the rear break line?? could it be a bad proportion valve? its killing my gas mileage and ******* the **** out of me so any input would be great

Replace the line. You want that bracket in place to keep the line from rubbing on the tire/wheel. $13.99 at AZ.

I had the same issue, I ended up buying a new line then taking the old one off and cutting it till I found the blockage. Turns out it was blocked right at that metal bracket. Buy a new line.

sweet thanks for the input guys. Well my classes got canceled today so i gues i'll go to autozone and fix this problem once and for all.
