I want to say that I'm using Fel Pro HG's....16 psi tested on my end.

How about 19.5 psi ... BTW, ignore everything except RPM and PSI ... I was lifting.

Great job on the build!
But I do have somewhat of a personal question.... I remember when I was 17.... and I don't recall having the income to do all of the things your'e doing, let alone while still in school.... I mean, I can do it now...but then, no.

Don't really mean to pry into your business, it's just that if it were me, I'd be putting all of this useless spending to something that will pay off in the long run. Not that have a fast car doesn't  But you know what I mean.

It is great to have savings and be smart with your money but your only young once!! Why not enjoy it a little before you have to worry about student loans or a mortgage?! :woo-hoo:

And by "enjoy it" I don't mean be crazy and get yourself hurt. I look at it this way...most SHO parts hold decent value and can be parted out at a later date, why not have some fun with the money and sell it off later it you get bored. ****, alot of kids these days waste their money on drugs to fry their brains! Buying car parts and working on cars keeps kids out of that scene.

I had 2 jobs in HS. Senior year I was working almost 40 hrs a week(co-op). I worked since I was 15. When u make $300 a WEEK and have no bills, beside weekend money, U can save a decent amount of money. (and quickly!!!) Trust me. Just have to be smart bout it. Thats probably how mitch is doing it. I am jealous I wish I could do it again!!!!

And in reality its NOT that much money. To buy a decent car u could spend 3-5k. (a little more if ur parents loan/help u) OR.....fix up ur 800 dollar taurus

Man I remeber saving for my qaufie it took me a little over a month. Man that was nice. My old man was awesome too and surprised me with the axle seals and the install kit!!!!

not at al in fact i was wondering when one of you would ask. My highschool has a program called teh RAP program... no i dont rap like gangster thug it stands for registered apprenticeship program. this program allows you to take off a whole semester of highschool to work in a trade and get paid cash as if it was a normal job and also allows you to put your hours towards highschool credits AND log hours in your bluebook for your trade! its pretty sweet. that being said i make 20 bucks an hour as a first year electrician. not bad for a 17 yearold. dont get me wrong its not easy work (well actually it is when your good at it). (at least 800 a week)

On another note, my other source of income is doing cash mechanics jobs on the side. eg. im doing an engine swap for a buddy right now. its simply i charge half shop rate on book time... if i go over its my loss under my gain. shop rate up here is ove 100 bucks an hour so i charge 50 bucks an hour on book time.plus parts markup of 10% (i get a mean discount at napa). cash jobs ftw.

im still barely scraping money together and might have to ask my grandpa for a small loan to push me over the hill (i borrowd money from him last year and paid him back within the week lol)

i still need to buy a BOV the mandrel bends for the exhaust. oil fittings for the turbo an aem truboost, charge pipe kit... and a wavetrac :p that will be for the summer though lol.

update... went to mopac and got all teh shit inclued in the SHOnut kit and ill tell you its not cheap lol. i might as well bought it from josh cause it was damn near the same price.

Since this is a boosted application AND the heads have been worked, shim the valves on the loose side of spec. The valves will seat further into the head when you "boost" for awhile and take up the slack.

Thanks for the tip, i wont be running much boost to begin with, i think the external WG i have has a spring good for like 3 psi in it. ill start with that, and i bought an ebay Manual boost controller so i can at least double it until i get another spring. i also have the internal wg to try on the turbo but i have been told it does not move enough air to support a gasoline engine. the port is like as big as my thumb. w/e not hard to block it off with a bolt.

ughh... well on thursday i put together my spare transmission (in way better shape then the one in my car) and i realised that im missing one of the return springs. there is the first one that is closer to the case and the there is a smaller one that goes on the other end of the shifter arm thing closest to the gearset. can i just try to use a random spring that i found in the shop? or should i wait till i pull my other tranny off and use the spring from that?

You dont need that little spring. Some of the earlier MTX4's don't come with that little spring. You can use a "random" spring if you want. Just make sure it isn't too strong. If it was me, I wouldn't worry about it.

P.S. Make sure you use anerobic on the tranny case half's, and output shaft seals so everything is sealed tight.

wierd. considering the red shop manual i have (the SHO engine one) it shows the spring in the diagram. and as for the anerobic, will do! shit thats what i forgot to order... seals!

got the transmission all put together today with ****** sealant. (thanks area91!) i was going to use rtv but this seems better.

and guess what? the welded diff ring dosent touch the case! YAY.

as for the engine, its been sitting off to the side right now as im waiting for the valve lash tools, UDP, plugs, oil filter relocation, clutch etc...

the other reason ive been poking around is that im helping my buddy with his 350 hes rebuilding too and it hasent gone very smoothly. we just fired it up today and it has a LOUD ass knock (sounded like sticky lifters or one rocker arm was out.) turns out 2 of the lifters are SNAPPED in half! so back to square one with that puppy... rip everything out and hot tank it to get all the shit oout of the gallerys. need a new camshaft now and full set of lifters. hopefully the metal dident get into the bearings but i have a sneaking suspicion that there is going to be shit in there. and lastly.... the oil pickup screen FELL OFF in the pan. i dont knwo how well you guys know chevies but the pickup screen is hammered into the pump and its friction fit. we hammered it in all the way and checked and it was firmly in place. we go and take the pan off today and its sitting in the bottem of the pan... this engine must be cursed. it spun 2 bearings 22miles on the way home from the showroom back in 1995. anyways enough talk about the SBC ill keep you posted on what happens with mine tomorrow/thursday.

long awaited pictures... dont get exited lol not too many :p

my rear mount of failure... turns out after seperating the mount it decided to shear not one but BOTH bolts that attach the mount to the engine so at one point my engine was being held in by one front bolt and the tranny mount... rofl.
